Ponting doesn't learn from his mistakes

Just as a thought- how do we think India would have fared had we batted on that wicket vs the Pak attack? ...Openers would have fallen early, grim determined batting from the holy trinity of middle order, Yuvraj would have got out to a waft outside off stump for about 3, more determined batting from MSD and the lower order and about 200-220ish..?

:nono: Gambhir is solid rock and don't discount Sehwag. Before you laugh at UV, remember he was the one who scored a century last time(and only time) Asif wrecked our batting on a green tinged Karachi wicket.:hysterical: Cricket is funny game and reality is stranger than fiction.

India would have scored a minimum of 300 runs - I can't remember us falling short of 300 since the BAW series. I think we did at Chennai but more than compensated for it in the second innings.

Big-mouth Ricky PAKISTAN last night revealed how a stirring pre-Test speech from skipper Ricky Ponting had steeled their batsmen to prepare for a nightmare SCG pitch. More... How Ponting's pre-Test speech gave the game away Ben Dorries January 04, 2010 11:00pm PAKISTAN last night revealed how a stirring pre-Test speech from skipper Ricky Ponting at a Prime Minister's reception for both teams had steeled their batsmen to prepare for a nightmare SCG pitch. Ponting spoke about the SCG pitch at Kirribilli, Kevin Rudd's private Sydney residence. And he may have given away state cricket secrets as he inadvertently helped to formulate Pakistan's batting plan. Pakistan's batsmen listened intently – and if there had been any expectation of a traditional spin-friendly pitch they went away with different ideas. "Ricky in the Prime Minister's place, when he made a speech he spoke about the wicket . . . (he said) it was going to be tough for the batsmen," Pakistan opener and topscorer Salman Butt said last night. "So even before the game started batsmen had it in their mind (how tough the pitch would be). "There was a sense it was going to be tough, so you make up your mind what it is going to be like." Cricket buff Rudd could never have known how his reception for both teams could shape the Test. If only Ponting had listened to his own advice and bowled first. Australia thought the pitch had green gremlins leaping off it on the first day when they were bowled out for 127. But at stumps last night Pakistan had reached 9-331. Five wickets with the second new ball, including three from hometown hero Doug Bollinger, kept Australia in the hunt, but they are at crisis point. Butt, who played in the 2005 Sydney Test, was pre-warned by the Kirribilli capers. "There is not 1 per cent of similarity in the wicket compared to the one I last played on here," he said. "Sydney, historically, is known for spin, but this time it has been a paradise for the seam bowlers." Australia were 204 runs behind and they have a major battle to avoid being beaten within four days as young opener Phil Hughes, who was out for a duck in the first innings, slept nervously last night. Only twice in 132 years of Test history have Australia come back from larger first innings deficits – most recently in Colombo in 1992-93 when they trailed by 291 and still won. Hughes and Ponting – out for a first-innings golden duck – will be on "pairs" in the second innings. Pakistani bowling coach Waqar Younis is sure the tourists can win. Two days after Ponting won the toss and elected to bat first, debate is still raging about his bizarre decision. "If Ricky had polled his players yesterday it would have been 10-1 to bowl, wouldn't it?" former Test leg-spinner Kerry O'Keeffe said.
