What's more relevant is whether a poster here is an intelligent sort who can contribute and add to the forums (iHammad) or a stupid troll out here to try and stir up nonsense with one foot in his mouth and the other up his ass. I reckon our new friend falls in the latter category. I disagree. I think where one comes from makes a difference. We support or oppose certain players and teams based on our nationality, don't we?

Ravi/King is a serious Richards fan despite not being Antiguan/WIndian; Gambit is a massive SRW and McGrath fan even if he's not Aussie, a lot of us are big Dale Steyn fans, etc. Yuvraj4Captaincy is also a big Collingwood fan, he thinks he is a class act but we'll just put that down to very bad taste. You should try not to sort out each poster based on his nationality. If an Indian troll comes around during the north/south debates and posts complete crap, are you going to go a lot gentler on him than say, an idiot Paki troll like manali/itduzz/etc? BTW, I recollect a lot of posters here (incl. myself) taking various sides for the Ashes or the Australia/South Africa series. Quite a bit of support on both sides in fact. How does nationality come into that? And how does posters' nationalities come into the fact that some of the most outspoken and abrasive critics of Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dhoni (three of Indian cricket's most significant players since the mid 90s) are all Indian here, not 'foreigners'?

I am also a big fan of many nin-Indian players. I supported England in Ashes and it was great fun. You misunderstand me when I say that nationality makes a difference. And you misunderstand when I say 'support based on nationality'. I was a big fan of Akram, but whenever he bowled against India, guess who I supported. I am an Indian and I support my team and players. Why you think I would sort him out based on his nationality just because I asked him where he is from or if I suspect he is not Indian? With 12000 posts, have I ever shown signs of racism ever before?

Your problem is that you are taking things way too seriously. The question is not whether nationality makes a difference. The question is- is asking that question that serious an offense? If it indeed is, we should have rules against it. I remember asking another member the same question a few days ago. That member admitted to being a non-Indian posing as an Indian, but that is irrelevant. If the question is wrong, it is wrong. I think you are missing the relevance here or I have completely misunderstood the culture of this forum in my long stay. Either ways, its sad.

For instance, I support India because I am Indian, yet at the same time I also support Australia since I reside here. That does not mean I blindly support either. Sometimes you get the impression players are criticized purely for the sake of it, calling Australian players convicts / thugs / cheats or Indians greedy / selfish etc. For arguments sake, best if its just ignored. As the saying goes, its better to wear shoes than to carpet the earth. I am Indian yet I am a big Ponting fan (excellent batsman / fielder). I am not going to make a fake ID and pretend to be Australian for the sake of it. If I am going to get attacked over the players I support, Indian or otherwise, so be it, I am not one to pay any attention to it, especially not if its on a bloody message board.

I believe he was dropped for the poorest ever performance by an Australian team in a World level tournament. As always, CA doesnt make it public when they drop a captain. They force him to step down and make it look like he has decided on his own and retiring. Its as simple as that. Why are we even discussing that Ponting offered to step down so that he can play more tests and score more runs... Pointless!!! He was booted out from t20 squad and its not going to be long before he gets dumped from the ODIs and Tests as well...
