Re: breaking news: sachin, ganguly out of odi Powar is a good choice. He has always picked up wickets in ODIs and was unlucky to miss out on the WC due to the aura of Harbhajan. Performance wise he has been a better wicket taker than Harbhajan. Chandan: If Tendulkar and Ganguly were to be rested they should have been rested from the entire tour so they could have played some meaningful county cricket. What is the point of resting them for a week?

Wats teh idea of young blood of 30 years old. Tiwari in ODI ?? :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: The guy is made for tests. Kartik can open though he is not a specialist opener. He did open for his state so that he could force his way into the indian side as an opener. He did not average well i believe. Cricinfo came out with an article after his and jaffer's first innings run roit in SA.

Yes, Cricinfo left him out of the ODI squad. He'll be starting spinner in ODIs

Re: breaking news: sachin, ganguly out of odi How about VRV Singh? Has anyone seen any good in this lad? I didn't see him do good in South Africa or West Indies. I think he is just a waste and needs to play more domestic cricket. People said he was sharp but apart from one or two spells he ain't that quick. If he didn't do well in Saffie conditions I don't have much hope of him doing well in Bangladesh.

He is. Cricinfo has listed just 14 players for ODIs whereas 15 were announced by Shah. Here is the team according to Rediff One-Day International: Rahul Dravid (captain), Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Virender Sehwag, Dinesh Karthick, M S Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Munaf Patel, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, Piyush Chawla, R P Singh, Ramesh Powar, Dinesh Mongia, Manoj Tewary.

Re: breaking news: sachin, ganguly out of odi For God's sake, Anbu, You must refrain from alleging a players without any proofs! We fans must grow up and look at cricket more objectively instead of getting this heavily emotional and hence leading to these needless conspiracy theories.

That apart, the whole selection panel was in favour of dropping Virender Sehwag for the Bangladesh tour and was retained in the ODI team only on the insistence of Dravid, a selector informed. Re: breaking news: sachin, ganguly out of odi its all media stuff chandan.. i heard same thing on ndtv too.. gues what these ppl make a drama out of some comments.. why would this happen? u see, They are the one who retained Dravid as captain, they never had problems with him after he picked sehwag for wc, if they had problems with that decision of Dravid, then they won't have made him captain again... today same stuff is in news, selectors not happy with Sehwags inclusion.. its just media goof up which shouldn't be paid attention

For being a nation of such people, we deserve the cricket team that we have.

Mr.Chandan, I am following cricket from 70's. The wadekar era,Pataudi,Bedi,Venkat,Gavaskar,Vishy,Kapildev,Azhar,Shastry,so on. There used to be always whims and fancies of captainin selection. Wadekar never liked prasanna. Pataudi never liked west zone players. Bedi never liked South Indians. Gavasker always promoted his players like Shastri. Even Kapil was dropped for a poor shot. But to my knowledge no captains was having vengence against the fellow players like our present captain has. He may be a good batsman but he never has good motives. This was proved so many times including declaring when Sachin was batting at 194 or pushing him to bat at middle order. He is backing Viru just to keep Sachin out of opeing slot . Now he has backed viru in the oneday team just to keep Sachin away. All the discussions in NDTV or in Cric info is not without any backing. If my views are not true I will be the happiest person.But the truth is different , sadly.

Re: breaking news: sachin, ganguly out of odi Dravid is the ONLY, the ONLY senior who commands respect from all BCCI officials. He must make it count. I'd like to see him shed his "good-boy" image and be a bit more stern with his non-performing team mates
