Fleming resigns as ODI captain Cricinfo staff April 24, 2007 Stephen Fleming said he will resign as ODI captain after the 81-run defeat to Sri Lanka in the World Cup semi-finals on Tuesday. He led in a record 218 ODI games. But Fleming said he wants to continue playing in the side and stay in charge of the Test team.

Re: Fleming resigns as ODI captain Vettori is the next in line. Jacob Oram isn't a bad choice either but he hardly plays a season due to injuries. Jacob Oram has been leading Central Districts for a while and know fair bit about captaincy.

Re: Fleming resigns as ODI captain Read Fleming's interview on cricinfo. He makes an excellent point about the ODI captain gradually taking over and graduating to test captaincy over some time. The Taylor-Waugh and Waugh-Ponting transitions certainly give credence to the theory.
