Still ain't nothing like PCA Mohali - just ask the players who find the dressing rooms there the most luxurious out of all the cricket grounds. How are the bathrooms for the general public ? Wankhedes , I can tell you from experience are as filthy as they come.

I wonder why many of the posters here are interested in knowing about the toilet facilities.. lolz.. are you going to to the stadium to watch a cricket match or you gonna sit in the potty? In any venue that is expected to have 1000s of people gathering (people from different walks of life_, public facilities such as toilets cannot be expected to be maintained clean... so when you venture out, you should keep your expectations low.. have you even been to a stadium one or two days before a major event? if yes, then you'll find tha the toilets and other such areas are cleaned to the extent possible. its not that the authorities dont do anything. They do allocate money towards cleaning the galleries, chairs etc before the game. But the workers who do the job many a times dont do a good job and their supervisors also turn a blind eye.. But I'm confident that they are cleaned to a reasonable level. But what happens on match day, when the toilets experience heavy traffic, where ppl are more interested in pissing and not bothering to flush, is the reason for the uncleanliness. By mid day the toilets are all messed up. I wouldnt blame the authorities for that. Its the sheer volume of people that create this mess. Can you imagine closing the toilet midway with the board "Cleaning in progress"? Having said that, I should also add that only the low priced stands are like that.. so I believe your experience at Wankhade could be cos you went to some low priced stand. So dont generalize based on your one time experience. Toilets and eating areas in most parts of the ground, especially the Pavilion areas, VIP areas, members stand etc are maintained best in class. These stands are relatively less crowded due to their high end to mid range prices. The Chinnaswamy Stadium has so many stands that are very well maintained. There is even a bar and a restaurant.. that are quite clean. From what Gambit says, he must have been to the VIP/Members area. So I'm sure he must have experience best in class facilities.. Lets hear from him.. So my request to you is, dont keep makin comments like facilities in Indian stadiums are poor and filthy.. based on your 1 experience. There are ppl from other countries who visit this forum and let them not form an opinion based on your experience or lack thereof... You said you had a bad experience in Wankhade.. may I ask you which stand that you went to and how much you paid for it? You may ask.. well irrespective of the stand and price paid, the public is entitled for decent facilities.. yes my friend.. that right. the stadium does provide quite a decent facility at the beginning of the match. its the volume of people that come into these stands and their behavior that creates the mess. this is not just true in indian stadiums.. although I wont generalize.. my 1 experience at Sydney Cricket ground was nothing spectacular compared to Indian grounds. Their toilets were only as good or as bad as the ones in India. The station next to the stadium was even worse.. my point here is, dont keep harping about facilities in india and indian cricket venues.. they are providing as much as possible, differentated by the price you pay for the tickets.. after that its you and me who are responsible for how we maintain it... To make my case strong, next time I goto the stadium, I'll try to take pictures in all areas ad try to post here..

That is the lamest excuse one can come up with for not having decent public facilities. When you are are out for a cricket match - you spend atleaat about 8-9 hours out. Clearly if you don't feel the urge to relieve yourself atleast once on a 1/3rd of the day- you must be from a different planet. In any venue that is expected to have 1000s of people gathering (people from different walks of life_, public facilities such as toilets cannot be expected to be maintained clean... so when you venture out, you should keep your expectations low.. have you even been to a stadium one or two days before a major event? if yes, then you'll find tha the toilets and other such areas are cleaned to the extent possible. its not that the authorities dont do anything. You clearly have not been to massive capacity stadiums outside India for what you utter. Heard of Yankees or Arthur Ashe ? Or the MCG ? They have far bigger seating capacity than most of our stadiums - and this is just to name a very few, ones that I have experienced. I am sure all the major cricket stadiums in Aus, Eng and RSA have world class public facilities. Sure one or two days before - things might be spink and spank so to speak - but it gets filthy because the bathroom facilities in numbers are not commensurate with the stadium capacity -and that is the crux. Apart from that, obviously lack of feedback (direct or indirect) from public with your attitude, who as it have low expectations will not encourage the administrators to spend money on having even workable public facilities. No one is asking for world class toilets - but we can surely do away with the kind where you feel the urge to puke even as you walk by it. Lets hear from him.. Have been to both - regular public stands as well as member's stand. My dad happens to be a CCI/Brabourne member and we get a couple of passes for all Wankhede matches. But that was not nearly enough when our college gang went out in groups of 7-8. We usually go to the North Stand at the Wankhede, which provides a parallel view of the game pitch. Tickets are Rs. 350 for ODIs and Rs 250 for a test match day. In any case your argument is as silly as saying hundreds filmstars, bigshot industrialists and billionaires live in Mumbai - so it must be a very clean city and we should not complain. The best analogy for this would be the state of the Mumbai local train traveller during rush hours - and the solution is the same as this bathroom issue - capacity badhao. So my request to you is, dont keep makin comments like facilities in Indian stadiums are poor and filthy.. based on your 1 experience. Luzzlers...and what about the dozens of cricket fans from other countries who actually visit the stadia ? Very nice impression it creates about an avg desi's mutralay expectations na ? (Aside from your mention of Yankee stadium, which I despise - that said I'm a Boston fan :D) I remember being very impressed by the way fans were treated at the MCG a couple of years ago. Came on for an Ashes test with a near-packed crowd (over 80K people on each day I think). Security was great. Went through it quickly (long lines that moved VERY quickly), no cameras/non-alcoholic drinks/etc confiscated, no searches. Pleasant, helpful staff. Nice air-conditioned public areas inside, where if it was bloody hot you could move inside for a quick break. Lots of decent options for getting a bite or a drink. Very clean bathrooms (despite being constantly in use, with the way the Barmy Army were drinking). On the top floor of one of the stands, there was a very cool cafe with several huge TV screens telecasting games from other parts of the world. Was really great to come up there for a top vantage view of the England/Australia game, then in between deliveries check out the screen and see what the NZ score was or the highlights from the India/South Africa match. That was a phenomenal experience. I have watched matches in several countries and stadia, and I will say from past experience that the grounds and boards in India have a LONG way to go to, before they approach the level of facilities and general comfort in England, New Zealand or India. In India, going to the game is mostly about the game. In NZ or Australia especially, there is a LOT more to the experience - a great day out, and a lot of other factors that make it a very fun time. I do recollect that the Sri Lankan fans who came to NZ for the NZ/SL games I attended all had a phenomenal time out in Queenstown, even if SL got mauled and the game was effectively over in an hour. BTW dinakkar, on your point about hygenic facilities in some grounds - why should only low priced stands be like that? If one person pays $30 for a seat somewhere in Bay 13 at the MCG and someone else pays $200 for a first row seat from the boundary - yes, the second will get a FAR better view and have a different viewing experience - but why should the first not have the same basic access to a clean toilet or drinking water/other potables as the second?
