sensible-indian Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Murali till 1998 starting averaged 31 after 34 tests. The next 91 tests, he averaged 21. But these are exceptions. Like SRT after 86 ODIs. Can't use them as benchmarks. But Ashwin does have the basics right (flight, drift, dip and turn). So we have to see how long he plays and how well he does in each country. Comparisons with Murali is just embarrassing though.
putrevus Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 So Ashwin goes from bowler who was deemed overrated the same ex players and only good on tailor made pitches to now possibly take 800 plus wickets. Let him do this for one year before proclaiming anything, 800 wickets are lot of wickets, he needs to another 100 tests and pick up more than 6 wickets per test, that will be a big miracle.
Vijy Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 No one can equal Murali without chucking. Ajmal tried. He didn't come that close.
