saneindian
Time Magazine rates Sachin's Test debut on no 4 In Top 10 Sporting Moments In History 1. Michael Jordan's "The Shot" 2. Pete Rose Banned from Baseball 3. Arsenal Win League in the Last Minute of the Season 4. Sachin Tendulkar's Test Debut 5. European Cup Semi-Final, AC Milan 5-0 Real Madrid 6. Wayne Gretzky Becomes NHL's All-Time Leading Scorer 7. Chang Beats Lendl at French Open 8. Australia Regains the Ashes 9. Earthquake Hits the World Series 10. Montana Drives 49ers to the Super Bowl. 4. Sachin Tendulkar's Test Debut The Little Master truly was little when he made his test playing debut at the tender age of 16 in November of 1989. And he couldn't have had a tougher induction: in Karachi, Pakistan, he faced the fearsome bowling attack of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis (also making his debut). While his 15 runs can hardly be considered memorable, the way in which he withstood the numerous blows to his body was an instant indication that the boy was quickly becoming a man. Sure enough, Tendulkar scored his maiden test fifty a few days later. http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1904906_1904907_1904666,00.html Link to comment

SachDan
Sachin :hail: tbh some strange choices really. For eg: Chang beating Lendl. Then why no mention of Federer's shocking win over Pete at Wimbledon? Lendl didn't rule clay as Pete did at grass! Link to comment
Sooda
Chang was 17 and Lendl was world no 1 and had reached 4 FO finals winning three, plus he came back from two sets down. Plus chang served underam in the 5th set because he was so tried and cramped and completely gobsmacked poor Ivan. Fed beating Samp was a surprise but not as much of one, he was pretty highly rated back then and was a top 15 player IIRC Great moment but Id STILL not put it there . How about Federer winning 15 GS's. Borg winnig 4 st Wimbys Or im sure there are football moments to choose from... Link to comment

Captain of Bhangra
Quite an achievement, considering it's a list produced by an American publication. They usually have their set sports such as basketball, baseball, NFL, Ice Hockey, which they're obsessed with, and very few other people in the World care about. For anything cricket related to make it in is a massive achievement... Link to comment

satishg
Sachin on Debut made 15 runs from 24 balls against Pakistan. guess they are talking about the impact his debut created on world cricket. A 15 year old playing the best bowling attack in their home turf in a traditional rivalry series is quite staggering and unbelievable!! Link to comment
champ
come on .. australia regaining ashes ???? so what england regained it back too .. i think they need to research more and dig deeper .. Link to comment
Shehezaada
Jordan's had finer moments then "The Shot", even though that was awesome in itself. The sequence of plays in the 98 finals where he scored in 4 seconds, then stripped Malone, then ran the clock was just perfectly executed with no time to think. Also his 63 point performance against a stacked Celtic team, Walton, Parish, Bird, McHale, DJ, Ainge Link to comment
