Arranged Marriages

Thank you Domaink and Tgidi and others. Lots of first hand experiences. I met a girl settled in US on H1 like me through family relations back in Bombay, June this yr. Fuucked up and got declined. I took it as a casual date and hugged her on meeting her initially and then pecked her cheek as I escorted her upto her car. I had no clue from my parents that the girl and her family were conservative - particularly the girl having been in US for nearly 5 years - which is more than the time I have been here. The girl's family obviously gave no particular reason for declining - but on narrating the " date" to my friends, I learnt that I crossed the mark and such an act was a no- no in marriage dates.

I met one back in 1998 as well when I was studying in Rhode Island. She was from Queens, NY and I was forced by my uncle to meet her. I drove all the way to NY, missed an exit and reached Long Island instead. I met her in the evening, and then the next day for lunch. Surprisingly, we got along very well in that 20 min meeting and she was she would be interested to meet me but wanted to know me more so we decided to keep in touch. I have to admit, she was gorgeous but after few calls to her etc, he kinda started to ignore me and then I gave up. She met my father after like 4 years in US and she said she was interested but I never tried to catch up - well that wasn't the case. My 1 and only experience for arranged marriage

Lol.. oh well. At least you know now. I dont know anything about dating- but a cheek peck is usually crossing the mark on a normal first date anyway...?

u cant do that with everybody on the first date whether its introduced by family or friends. I never pulled cheeks on the first date unless my aim was to "**** and forget". The thing to remember in this kind of meeting/date is that girl's family is aware and your aim is to find out if you would want to know her more then build trust and then do the cheek pulling. The problem is that everything gets noticed at first ... All I am saying is that keep trying. A friend of mine was introduced to this girl who told him "I love you" after their second 15 min date :hehe: the next day she wanted to make out a little .. He decided to end the relationship (after a lil bit of making out) cuz she wasnt what he wanted. she was too excited , love on 2nd date :wall: , aggressive etc . That doesnt make my friend conservative but he realized that she is not the one.
