I don't find that problem very interesting, because skin detection is fairly easy because skin tone is so much different from other objects. In 15 years, I will be a tenured professor at a top university and one of the leading researchers in my field. If you had the choice of teaching' date= being in full time research or industry for similar remuneration, which would you choose - and why? I will be in academia as a professor. I don't enjoy teaching, from the limited chances that I've had, but I love research. I don't want to go into industry for a lot of reasons. PhD is a waste-of-time if your ultimate goal is to go into industry, atleast in my field. The problem with a research laboratory is that you won't have as much freedom as you will as a professor. As a professor, you still have to deal with a lot of bullshit (teaching, funding, etc.), but atleast you have more freedom in choosing which problem you want to work on. Also, collaboration and working with students is fun. When I say that I don't enjoy teaching, I mean teaching bullshit classes like Programming 101. I would love teaching if I had to teach classes related to my research area. If you had to start your academic career again from say 17/18, what would you have done differently in terms of your uni choices and area of focus? You can never learn enough math. I made the mistake in my first 3 years of undergrad to go easy on the classes so that I can focus more on research, and it came back to bite me in the ass. I had to work hard in the past few years to learn everything that I should've learned in the first place. Research-wise, I made the mistake of not seeing several of my projects through to publication. I could've easily have had 2 or 3 good publications if I hadn't jumped around so much. If I had known that I would be working in this area of research, I perhaps would have chosen a different undergrad university, but hindsight is 20/20. In the end, things have worked out well, even though I have made plenty of mistakes. How many dates do you normally wait before heading for home base? Haven't done any formal dating since H.S., tbh. Since then, it has been pick-ups at bars and parties, where it's probably 2 or 3 hours at most. Of course, I have been in relationships since H.S., but it's mostly after we hooked up :giggle: H.S. was slow, 2 or 3 months easily. A lot of relationships, but most did not go that far....logistics are hard to work out when you're in H.S. and still living with your parents. In a world without cricket, what sport - if any - would you follow? Otherwise, how would you spend the time you normally devote to cricket? In a world without test cricket (on sporting pitches :bumsmack:), I would find it very hard since no sport can match the elegance of test cricket. ODI's are a close call, they were close to test cricket in the 1990's. Not too sure what to think now. 20/20 circus can easily be replaced with a sport like NFL or NBA or Tennis or even ****ing Curling.......
