Soods honey, I've been dealing with some personal stuffs. Won't bore you with the details. Missed you guys! :icflove: Can't wait for the answers :winky:

RIGHT THEN, ive given this my best shot. I do hope you all reciprocate by reading properly :P.. hopefully you’re all actually interested YOU BETTER BE INTERESTED :hitler:

1. How closely do you resemble your online persona ? Toughie to begin with. I cant say how I come across online, but we all resemble our online personas I imagine. You can get a reasonably accurate image of a person after reading posts by him/her over a period of months. So, I know I come across as debonair, articulate and intelligent. That’s because I iz. :--D 2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time ? The classic. Hopefully Ill be married, with at least one kid. That’s on the personal side. :D Professionally, I’ve got all these exams I need to do and get out of the way; hopefully I can hang around in the co I am currently working for a good little while iA, work hard and get somewhere[/i 3. What motivates you ? A cheesy answer to this- a desire to do well. I was bit of an underachiever for a lot of my life and paid the price for it. Want to feel like Im max-ing my potential now Describe your greatest accomplishment, the one that gave you the most satisfaction ...I did reasonably well- if not necessarily spectacularly- at Uni, got a decent job straight after... 4. I am of the view you are an electrical / electronic engineer. Was there ever a time during your university days when you thought 'I don't want to do this anymore' ? What other career would you have realistically pursued ? Are you still studying ? Do I come across like an engineer??!!! Haha Cant see how. I’m a trainee accountant. I fell into it by chance really, I always wanted to go into science (become a pharmacist) I’m lucky I think that it didn’t happen and Alh thus far (relatively early days yet) it has worked out ok. So I guess I didn’t really think ‘don’t want to do this’..and it is the only career op I have seriously pusrsued Everyone else, fire away. Don't want one, two word answers. :cantstop:
1. Why are you the oldest active member on ICF? Erm...you know what. I’m not sure why. But the Prof said it, I am no one to argue. I joined with the rest of the guys who mutinied from ICFever a few years ago. So plenty who are older/as old as me 2. When did you discover Shoegazer (post-rock) ? Oooh. Well I went through a phase when I was in my late teens when I experimented LOADS with various bands etc. I discovered My Bloody Valentine then, their albums were super critically acclaimed. So thought Id check out- thought they were GREAT. I can’t say I have listened to much other shoegazer, I do like the Verve and alot of their early stuff is shoegazey (their later britpoppy work is much better IMHO) I think Shoegazer and Post Rock are different though? I discovered post rock later- really liked bands like Mogwai and Sigur Ros. I heard Hoppipola on tv and thought that sounds great. Looked them up, then got more of Sigur R. Being sad I looked up 'post rock' as a genre on Wiki, found other bands like Expl in the Sky, read reviews and d/loaded their stuffz. Used to listen a lot when revising for exams, the wordlessness helped 3. What excites you? To use flamy-speak: wyminz :--D
1). What does Sooda mean anyways ? :hmmmm2: Simple Object Oriented Data Access. :hehe: actually it dosent. Well it does, but not in this context. When you got to Chennai, and you make a stop at the train stations there, the hawkers come about selling stuff. ‘Kaafeeeeee’ they screech. And also ‘bonnddaaaaai’ but not just kafee and bondai. ‘SOODA’ kaafee and bondai. Sooda in tamil means hot. :winky: 2). One thing you absolutely have to achieve/do in life and why (apart from getting laid..we all know abt that :hehe:). Ooh. I want to be successful. Not in monetary terms (thought that would help) but to ‘do well in life’. When Im on my death bead and Im looking back I want to think ‘I did ok’. Not just professionally, otherwise too. I want married life with my partner to be the most amazing experience ever, particularly the first year or so when were young and fewer responsibilities. I hope its great .
are you predz? Sadly, no. Where is predz? Used to be a good man to talk football with. I iz Sooda Join Date: Oct 2006. Posts: 2175 Explain. Yeeahhh. Thats a good Q. I went on a major hiatus after being active-ish in ICFs initial days (I was a reasonably active –not to mention long term- member of Indian Cricket Fever) Then work came about etc and I kinda lost interest. I wish I hadn’t now, so much has happened on this board its like a little family, and lots of new people... RLY 'O? yeh srsly
What gives you the most personal satisfaction, money or frienship ? Rich friends? :dontknow:
What does your username mean? Answrd above 
Have you ever experimented with the Dark Side of the Force? Of course not. I stay away from all emotion lest it may cause me to fall into the trap :P Do you believe world peace will ever be possible? No. Too many differences in the world that all too easily cause violence. Sometimes they’re minor squabbles which end up being huge, other times there are genuine reason for war. Describe yourself in 5 words. I’m pretty ordinary, nothing special sadly. Introverted but fairly easy going, good sense of humour. What draws you to the game of cricket? Cricket itself is a great sport- the tactical; intelligence involved makes it so much superior to (say) football. But really the answer is INDIA. If they weren’t a cricketing nation then I wouldn’t care. Them doing well means much to me. Pool or Ocean? Nothing like having a swim in a warm ocean, when its a hot day in Chennai going down to the beach and having a dip- nothing like it Assuming you eat them, how do you like your eggs? My dad makes a legendary omelette with cheese, olives, kebabs tomatoes, etc sprinkled on. Failing that- Scrambled please. Can you handle a gun? Nope You have a chance to travel in time. Would you visit the past or the future? Past. The future would scare me, there would be so much I don’t know, and I hate being ‘out of place’. In the past I would almost feel superior. At the same time there would so much to learn from the past, so much more to learn i.e Superheroes, do you prefer the graphic novels or the movies? Favourite superhero? Graphic novels fo shizzle. Bit of a comic fan (not a big one) Read a lot of Batman and some X Men. Films never quite capture them well enough. Batman is my fave. The most sophisticated stories. I like Wolverine – ultra cool hero Do you watch / have you watched Heroes? Does Sylar scare you? I do- watching the current one atm and it’s getting interesting. Heroes is great, the storylines haven’t been so strong of late (well, since chapter one!) and a few ...weak...characters, but the acting is still better than most other American dramas I watch Sylar has to be the best TV villain ever. He scares me yes, I wish he wasn’t that powerful. I was SO pissed off when he killed Nathan. I hope they end it soon with a MASSIVE Peter versus Sylar battle- that’s what we all want to see! Fine actor is Zachary Quinto (is that his name?) made a really good Spock too
Is evil necessary to maintain a balance? Well. No, it’s never necessary. Evil does make us appreciate the value of ‘good’. But again, it’s not necessary. Even indifference or apathy makes us appreciate the value of good. The world could do without evil. Of course evil is very much a point of view- No Nazi would say Hitler was evil. But that’s a different matter Favourite flavour of ice cream? Easy- chocolate :. Ben and Jerrys fudge one to be specific How often do you eat chocolate? Hehe. Not incredibly often, a few times a week. I eat sweet a fair bit though – too much perhaps. Got a sweet tooth Home or public gym? Neither tbh. Ive tried public Gymming but lacked commitment, I was quite serious for a little while too. I am reasonably fit though, play football. Federer or Nadal? Neither- Andy Roddick. :P I loved A Rod ever since he came on to the scene back in 02/03. Support him at every tourno. Fed or Rafa. Federer for me, much more naturally talented – I do think he needs to beat Rafa in a GS final to truly cement his greatness. We’re VERY lucky that they both have come in the same era. I wish Federer was a few years younger and the rivalry with all the younger guys like Djokovic, Murray etc would be so awesome Are you a humanitarian? ..erm, what does that mean... Holiday: Nature or a 5 star resort? Resort I think, though It’d be a close one. Give me comfort anyday. Having said that, I think quiet solace giving nature with someone you love would be great too. Do you watch Fashion TV? Nope!!!! How religeous are you? I think I am reasonably religious- moderate and I would like to improve on that front. It definitely helps me personally Do you listen to U2? Not a colossal fan, but Ive been fortunate to see them live! In August, and they were awesome. I know their big songs Was the 80s the best music era ever? Hmmm. I think it’s quite an influential era. Most young bands today have been influence by 80s bands. And that’s going across genres- the best current metal bands are influenced by 80s Metallica or Iron Maiden. Joy Division and The Cure have influenced countless young guitar acts. 'Best' depends on how old you are Id imagine. For sheer number of great bands - 80s might well be the best. Im a child of the 90s musically speaking. Oasis are my one favourite band. Really like grunge era music like Pearl Jam. Are you a good cook? Not a good one. But I can cook. A reasonable one, make Indian curries etc. I can make a decent chicken curry, so if youre ever down UK-way and you fancy a good but not great chow:--D Do you gossip? Nope Day or Night person? Night ;-) All is fair in love and war. Do you agree or not? Nope. That gives haramis free reign to do whatever they want in a war situation. In Love- again no I guess. It could mean having a disregard for the other person, the object of affection
SHANNNOOOO :P 1. The Football Club/Player you despise the most? Liverpool man. They are just lucky. They were incredibly lucky to in the CL when they did- lucky in the final, lucky versus Juve, lucky versus Chelsea. Undeserved winners. Inter are the stupidest big club in football (lets just GIVE AWAY Fabio Cannavro on a free to our major rivals, or better yet sell Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf to our other major rivals and see them go on to become CL winners. And then they go on to buy lesser players and N Millions) Dont like Henry. A genius, but arrogant git. I found alot of the Arsenal team of a few yrs ago arrogant gits- Pires for eg, and most of all the manager... 2. Views on Arsene Wenger. Arrogant, senile old bat. :P Genius though. One of the best club managers in the world (top 4 with Ancelotti, Fergie and Jose). To do what he’s done on a limited budget- and his record of developing youngsters, spotting young talent, style of play of course- second to none. One thing I will say is that he needs to buy big players more- integrating established talents in to a team is a managerial challenge in itself (leave aside the fact that Arsenal need such a player), and theres the managing of difficult egos that might come with it (Ancelotti has done this so well with potentially temperamental talents in Drogba and Anelka) 3. Your Fav. Oldie/s on ICF (both)? There is a guy called Gaurang/KDG on the ICFever who knows an incredible amount about Indian cricket. Goose is one of the funniest posters around . Will add a few more to this.
sooda whats ur real name? ...you can call me Ahmed...:D
do you like Shahid Afridi? :P Dont mind him ! I have heard him speak live at a charity function and he’s a funny guy. I often wonder what our reaction to him would be like if he were Indian.
1. You've been on cricket forums for longer than most here but you are still quite young and knowledgeable about Cricket. Where did this passion and knowledge of Cricket come about? I think I am about average age of ICF poster- mid 20s. Kinda got into cricket around 96 WC. Then I lived in India for a bit and REALLY got into it, a lot of cricket on TV there. Fell in love with Sachin- that was his era and India we’re not so great. I was unlucky to have left India just as we were getting genuinely good, Dravid and Ganguly were peaking and decent pacemen coming through. My dad loves his cricket, maybe we got it from him 2. From what I've observed, you're quite level-headed on the forums. How do you manage to keep your poise and how have you evolved as a poster over the years? Awwww shucks *blush* What can I say. Im a pretty level headed kinda guy :P I don’t think Ive evolved per se, As you get older you get more insightful naturally. I am very much a ‘cog’ as a poster i.e not someone who posts OP Threads much I just post replies- agreeing or disagreeing, I rarely say something really insightful anyway. I do think I have decent cricketing knowledge in terms of its history and past greats, but not so much in terms of strategy and technique. 3. Who best fits in the category of your dream girl ...pick someone from the movies/tv. Hehe. Lets see, someone who shares a lot of common interests, and is good fun to be with- sense of humour, wit, good intelligent conversation. Someone who can teach me stuff, help me grow as a person and even be a bit outgoing- to complement/make up for my introverted nature Can’t think of anyone like that off films or tv :dontknow:. 4. If there is heaven and if somehow by mistake you were also invited , what would you like to hear God (not Tendu) say when you arrive at the entrance. ...I shall (not so neatly) sidestep this question...cant even begin to consider what God might or might not do 5. I think you listen very wide range of music. What type of music do you listen to? Rock/Metal mostly. I have kinda mentioned a few bands I like. Not a wide range though really. Like my guitar stuff 6. Here's a classic question: You are in your car driving and there is only one vacant seat, who would you give a lift to : Sachin Tendulkar or Your Dream Girl? The dream girl, the one I described above. No contest on that one. Sorry SRT 7. Rank by order of preference : t20, ODI, Test Cricket Tests by far. Daylight. ODIs. A lot more daylight, T20s 8. Advice to ICF as the oldest if not one of the oldest forum posters? 9.Just for fun: Why did you not get offered a position as a mod,etc on ICF? Were you the rebellious kind? :D? Far too sensible for EMC. :P I am not NEARLY important enough in the ICF scheme of things. Certainly not the oldest poster (might be one of the older ones) but I haven’t been anywhere near active enough- h4tes question above shows that. I wish I had been more active. I got to know a few folks on ICfever well and they were great. But a glance at the Never ending thread is proof enough of how there are so many guys here who are good mates and get on so well. If there was a real life ICF meet it would be a real laugh :icflove:
How seriously do you take your cricket ? Not VERY seriously. I don’t like India losing though, especially not to naPakistan 1. Which ICF'ers would you like to personally meet ? Hm a few actually...flamy and Gunner who I imagine would be really cool guys. I would like to see h4te,flamy,Gunner,Pk,Ludh, Scninism all meet. That would be bonkers, you could just sit back and watch it unfold, im sure itd be hilarious. CG I think is very witty and funny but really sensible and 'worldy wise' I think she'd be good to know in person 2. If you could live the life of someone else for a day, who would you choose and why ? Barack Obama. Just to see what its like to be the worlds most powerful person. Id be terrible at it, America will grind to a standstill 3. What was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you ? Hm. Put up a ‘get to know sooda’ thread :P I was doing a project like thingy once and my mum sat up with me pretty early in the Morn just to give me company. Legend :icflove: 4. How do you want to be remembered ? As a decent bloke. Hehe. Hopefully one who did good by the people who loved him
Here you go :winky: Are you a dog or a cat person? Cat would be a preference, but honestly- neither Do you believe that there is intelligent life in space, just waiting to cross our path? There must be, but Im not sure if it will ever cross our path. The UK Ministry of defence recently closed its UFO hotline. Clearly they’ve lost hope. What is your favourite colour? I am not sure I have one... If you had to be an animal for a day, what would you be and why? A bird for sure because they can fly and I would love to experience that- a falcon maybe, Peregrine Falcons are the fastest birds. Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom? ( I don"t mean in a homo way.) Haha. Depp. No contest. Cracking actor, so versatile. Bloom is ok- Kingdom of heaven for instance surprised me, he did an ok job there, on paper you’d never back him to carry it off Will you watch The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus? Erm.. no. I know it has a great cast though In The Lord of the Rings, would you rather be an elf, hobbit or dwarf? ( I asked h4te the same question, how will you guys answer ) Elf for shizzle, Marilizzle I’d hate to be as short as a hobbit or dwarf. It’d be so cool to be a) as long living as an Elf b) pretty darn good with a bow and c) if Liv Tyler is anything to go by, Elf wyminz are not bad What is your opinion on Angelina Jolie? Im not sure I have one :hmmm: Do you mean her hotness? (She is ok) Or her much charity work? The lots of adopted kids ? Her as an actor- She is ok, I have only seen her in Wanted (sh!T) and Mr and Mrs Smith (not great, funny in parts) Favourite movie? (Feel free to include a favourite out of several diiferent genres, i.e. favourite action movie, favourite comedy, etc) Loved the 2nd Shrek and the 2nd LOTR- probs my top 2. District 9 was one of the best recent ones I saw Why do empires (think Rome) fail in the long run? They get stale- over confident, complacent, arrogant and too comfortable. There are always external threats and if you’re not on your toes you’re doomed. Particularly if you over stretch yourselves which is what most empires did. No country/race is happy under occupation Do you ever feel like hitting someone? Have you ever hit someone? I got an annoying little bro j/k :P Not really I don’t think. Dont remember the last time I hit out of anger, or felt like doing it Do you sometimes pretend to be happy when you are, in fact, not? Not normally, I would find that hard. Depends a bit on who I am with, with family- no, if you cant be yourself with family then who can you be yourself with? Otherwise, maybe Have you ever kept a secret that you later wish you hadn't? (No need to elaborate) Dont think so, Theres has never been a major SECRET that I have kept- maybe people just don’t trust me :(( Do you believe in saying sorry? Absolutely. It means a lot to be actually apologetic- or at the very least act like you are if you’re in the wrong Do people change, or just other people's perception of them? People change, yep. One single experience can change a person completely Do you play drinking games? Teetotal You have to fight a dual. Swords or pistols? Pistols would be an easier death I think :nervous: What do you eat on your pizza? hmm... Lots of cheese, pepperoni, donor meat, onions, chicken, maybe bbq sauce Fiction or Non-fiction? Fiction. Only non I read is for studies, haven’t ever read a bio Coffee or tea? tea is much better for you, coffee is a dehydrator. Though it does a better job of keeping you awake
In a game of arm wrestling, DC paaji v. CG. Who do ya think will come out on top? No contest. CJEEE to win that one On one fine Sunday morning, you see one of your MALE friends making out with a guy in public. You are shell shocked to know that he is gay. The previous day that same person had invited you home to "spend some time"(his words) in the evening( mind you no one else is invited). Will you go or will you stay indoors? (Just for lulz..if your feelings are hurt then I iz sorry). HUH????? How do you think of these questions you strange weirdo :headshake: No I don’t think I would go. Id be scared. Your GF/ wifey gifts you a PINK shirt on a special occasion. In all fairness, she really doesn't know what's the matter with pink but she says she will be very happy if you wear the shirt to office the next day. Will you wear to please her or not? Note: Your friend works for the same firm. If you wear pink it could send "signals" to him. Nope. Id tell her the implications and the many years of scoffing at Id get
1. What was the best advice youm have ever recieved ? My dad keeps saying ‘when you think of something nice to do, just do it IMMEDIATELY, no second thoughts’ 2. Reflecting on the year so far, is it one that you want to remember or forget, if so, for what reasons ? Frankly- its hasn’t been an amazing year (don’t want to go into reasons- nothing major happened, but rather not) I am thankful for everything, because it can always be worse and for many people it is ALOT worse. 2. What was you FIRST REAL JOB out of uni ? Working as a trainee accountant for about a year and a half for a manufacturing business 3.
1. Can you pinpoint in your life, one "eureka" moment, where everything just clicked, where you met the right person at the right place at the right time ? Hmm ... I don’t think so. Would be nice though. they are never moments for me - normally a culmination of a series of events over a period of time 2. Like yourself, I too am a big fan of "RAMMSTEIN"; What in your view makes their music appeal to those who don't understand German ? A case of music transcending boundaries ? I just listen for the head banging element. Good music to drive to, run to. That I imagine is what appeals to anyone who likes metal. They’re actually supposed to be pretty good song writers- quite politicized. 3. I take it you live in the States. Have you ever had a chance to visit "OZFEST" ? If so, what band did you look most forward to seeing ? I don’t and I haven’t. I imagine it would be really cool. I haven’t seen many metal acts live- Ive seen Metallica and they were awesome. I also saw Bullet for my Valentine last year who were ok. Linkin Park- as well, and they were great 4. Where do you see India in fifty years economically, socially and ethinically ? How significant of a role do you see India playing in the world affairs than ? 5. Is India shining ? 6. What do you identify as the reaons that inhibhit us humans from realizing our potential ? Fear ? Lack of confidence ? Can India, as a nation, ever scale the heights reached by great Britain ? I’m not nearly Indian enough to answer these questions very well. Don’t know the country very well. One thing I will say is there are no heights that Great Britain has scaled. Its history is one of colonial racism. It has no moral authority to back its ‘economic might’ (which in the current climate is not very much) and It will be fantastic if India can get there economically. India is a great example of integration it’s amazing how what is essentially a number of different little countries (its states) can be unite under one roof as well as it does 7. Of all the places you have lived / visited, is there one you would describe as "heaven as earth", one where you would go to, to escape from your problems ? Medina, Saudi Arabia 8. What do you look most forward to when visiting India ? Meeting the family I have got there 9. Describe your comfort zone Change and the unknown-or fear of the unknown- causes me discomfort, some people relish it and the challenge it brings. I can’t say I do. 10. What do you want to accomplish in five years ? in fifteen years ? Asked already :orderorder: 11. What will you tell your children / grandchildren about the India - Pakistan partition on 1947 ? About Kashmir ? I’d tell em to read a book :P ..I would tell em what a great example it is of British Haramipan :rose:
What are the ten things you hate most about Star Wars series? :D
...have you watched it yet...:P?
1. One person of each category you want to meet, living or dead: Sportsman; Scientist; Politician; Andy Roddick - my favourite sportsperson, probably Einstein- just so I can say I met him, and Obama..seems like a cool frood 2. Whats the most valuable thing you posses ? Hmmmm... 3. How seriously do you take your cricket ? Did you ever consider pursuing it as a profession, if not as a cricketer, than pehaps as a cricket historian / journalist / administrator ? Nope to ans the 2nd part- although it would be GREAT, I don’t write well enough to be a good journo. I don’t take it that seriously 4. What was the most adventurous thing you have done ? I’m not particularly adventurous, bit boring tbh...went to Spain for a week last year ...:dontknow: 5. What are your thoughts on the Israel - Palestinian conflict and America's unflinching support and inability to seriously pressurize Israel, despite their repeated violations of United Nations regulations ? What do you see as the future of the settlements and the status of East Jerusalem ? haha... I think the other thread where we’re having this discussion will answer this one, if it hasn’t already! 6. Where does your allegiance / loyalty lie, to your mother country or to your adopted country ? 7. Hypothetical Question: If you lived outside of India all your life, spent your childhood, teenage years and adulthood outside India, do you ever want to go back, even if your ancestry is Indian and family reside in India ? Would you feel as an outsider inside your own home ? The last line of your Q hits the nail on the head I do feel like an outsider whenever I go back. I love meeting family and all, but I’d never live there. I go back to Chennai and I can’t speak the language and I don’t know how things work. Its hot and its dirty. In the UK things seem so much ‘easier’. Think I have answered no 6 in a way. there is a part of me that thinkg my allegiance to India goes as far as the cricket team however I am culturally very much Indian though-I dont know what that means. Hahah- it means I am confused :winky: 8. Love or Arranged Marriage ? Arranaged man :P... 9. Did you continue to follow Indian cricket after the 2007 World Cup as closely as you did, say, before it ? Yeah, the shambolic performance didn’t really make a difference. That will suffice for now
1. Do you think NRI's have misplaced loyalties, enjoying the comforts of the west, constantly fantasizing about how awesome India is, yet provide BS excuses when requested to go back ? I cant answer that question really- Im not Indian enough to give a good answer 2. Why does India, a nation of some 1 billion people, constantly embarass itself at the Olympics, outperformed, outgunned by countries that are smaller, poorer Simple reason- Money. Lack there of. No point having lots of talent when there is no infrastructure to hone it 3. If you could change one event in the past 100 years, what would you choose ? WW1, how different would the world be... 4. What was the most uncomfortable question you were ever asked in a job interview ? hehe... I was once asked If i was a biscuit what biscut would I be... not uncomfortable- but a strange one!!. 5. When time comes for you to get married, will you come to India to find a potential wife ? What are the qualities you will look for in your life partner ? Kinda answered that for Ludh I think as far as the 2nd part goes. I HAVE gone to India to find the potential Mrs Sooda and hopefully come next July.... 6. 5 minutes with Sachin or the chance to bone the actress / model of your dreams ? :winky: :headshake:
