My initial point was to try to understand what spiritual people mean by the metaphysical or the soul. Many people believe in spirituality, and have done so for ages, so I will not denigrate what you feel. However the reason for the metaphysical feeling appears seems to be physical to me. In that sense you me and all of us, do live in a physical world and we should probably try to describe life as a physical phenomenon, rather than a metaphysical one.

It is just one dimension among many. A multi-dimensional universe. Life on this earth, in this dimension is physical and as I said its purpose is experience. I make no arguments against that. It is just when the topic of after-life came up, I talked about the non-physical life. Some people think death is the end, some people don't.

Note that by physical, i mean something that is observable and recordable.

I don't believe in the metaphysical, but I wouldn't say that death is the end. In fact I wouldn't even say that life is a beginning either. The distinction between living things and non-living things is rather artificial from an atomic perspective anyway. We arose from one singularity, so "we" are all going to exist forever :woot: (until the Big Rip i guess)

To find out what life is one needs to examine another creatures life. Look at an ant.. it tries to find food , survive , reproduce , lives in a society and then it dies. What does it leave behind ? I say not much except that it was an experience. No matter how we look at the religion , for all purposes our lives are not much different. For me the question is not why am I here ... the question is since Im here , what do I want to experience. Do I want to be happy , rich ,spend time with family or a combination of all these?
