i thought he was really selfihs, got a hundred in the first innings when he could afford to be carefree..some of his shots in the first innings were atrocious and he totally took advantage of his luck.. and choked when it really mattered..nothing special, just beginner's luck

I expect ozs to go after him & we will see his mental toughness in that series .The attention hes already getting might work against him & wont be surprised if he has a hard time facing oz bowling

Its good to see that people on this forum are praising him, for once i thought our future isnt looking bright, but the young guns aamer and umar akmal are taking us back to 1990s when inzamam and wasim akram came as good replacements for imran khan and javed miandad

He also doesn't seem to have a weakness against short bowling which many Pakistanis do have. To be honest you just seem to be a poster who wants to have a dig at anything you can. If anything he's stats against Aus A last year should tell you how little Aus wickets and Aus bowlers have troubled him. He murdered Malinga and has handled Bond relatively well so far, in fact the ball which he got out to in the first innings was caught at the deep pint boundary, that's how confident he was against Bond at the time.

First off, how on Earth can you call a guy who adjusted his innings according to the team's requirements selfish. In the first innings he launched a counter attack, which was successful and in the 2nd he was much more selective in his shot play and was far more rigid. As for shots being atrocious, I don't think you were watching Umar Akmal bat, I think you may have him confused with Mohamed Asif or Chris Martin. You don't score 129 and 75 playing atrocious shots. As for beginner's luck, this guy has performaed at every venture and every turn in his domestic and international career so far. No luck about a player who scores and wins admirers the world over. In terms of young batting talent, this guy is the most talented young bat I've seen since De Villiers and Yuvraj were discovered.

I have heard he handled Tait and Bollinger pretty well in OZ.
Pretty well? He scored a century off 70 balls against them with 5 6s, he treated Tait like a club bowler in one of the games. I

He has trouble facing express fast bowlers' date=' Johnson and Siddle might get him out cheaply.[/quote'] Well few months ago in July of 2009 he owned Australian A side with bowlers like Bolinger, Tait, MacKay, Krejza etc. In 2 Test he was the highest scorer with an average of 94 with 2 100s and 1 50. In ODI he averaged 51 in 3 ODIs with 1 100. Even in T20 he scored the highest run in our team against Australia A. He dominates our domestic cricket. He's some serious talent and a terrific find for Pakistan. We desperately needed someone of Inzy's caliber and with his inclusion things are again looking good for us in the long run. Best thing about him is that he doesn't panic and collapse like others in our batting line-up. In our gloomy world of upcoming batsmen, he's a very bright hope. Hope this lad goes on to achieve big things in the future.

It was this year. Right after brilliant Australian tour he was called upon to the national side. One of the very few things which PCB got right.
