vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 T20/ODI/Test overall Statistically VVS is better
nballa Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Yuvraj can't play shots like Laxman does, Laxman can't play shots like Yuvraj does. Both are opposiites, both are spectacular and we need both of them. stupid poll.
Sooda Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Makes perfect sense' date=' but I think it might confuse transparent :cantstop:[/quote'] You could take it a step further and say Laxman is a better test bat than Yuvraj is an ODI bat Hence Laxman is a better batsman OVERALL B->
Karan114 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 You could take it a step further and say Laxman is a better test bat than Yuvraj is an ODI bat Hence Laxman is a better batsman OVERALL B-> But Yuvi's strike rate is 58 in Tests!!!!1 VVS only 49!!!!! Yuvi FTW! :cantstop:
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Firstly he dosent suck... his record is ok without being outstanding. Tons in Pak and Aus are no mean feat The fact that he wasnt given a long run in ODIs is less to do with his batting than his general in-conudiciveness to one dayers- not really being very athletic. He dosent have Yuvrajs power , to clear the boundaries with ease say, that helps in ODIs Anyway you can flip that and state that Yuvraj majorly sucks when the going gets tougher- i.e in tests Laxman is a better ODI bat than Yuvraj is a test bat... if that makes sense Firstly UV does not suck... his record is ok without being outstanding in Tests. He is also pressing the gas hard and improving leaps and bounds. Laxman doesn't have the power, he is not athletic then is he a sportsman? :hmmm: I say he has power and he is also athletic. One has to be physically fit to play out session by session in a test match. Anyway you can flip that and state that Laxman majorly sucks when going gets easier - i.e in Odis. Laxman ODI avg - 30 SR - 72 UV Tests avg - 37 SR - 58 now please elaborate how you can go on to state that laxman is better ODI bat than Yuvraj is a test bat? Putting words in a statements does not make a statement meaningful! Having a nerd agree to everything without substance is nonsense too...
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 You could take it a step further and say Laxman is a better test bat than Yuvraj is an ODI bat Hence Laxman is a better batsman OVERALL B-> I think you are jumping ahead of the gun... rather you should take a step back and back up your inferences.
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 T20/ODI/Test overall Statistically VVS is better Yuvi's data consists of mostly one dayers and Lax's data consists of mostly tests... one inning(odi) != two innings(tests)
vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Yuvi's data consists of mostly one dayers and Lax's data consists of mostly tests... one inning(odi) - two innings(tests) Count the innings as well.. It is 22 innings less.!! This is for your satisfaction. But in my view i don't give much importance to ODI performance.
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Count the innings as well.. It is 22 innings less.!! This is for your satisfaction. But in my view i don't give much importance to ODI performance. and i don't agree with you for the 10th time
Jersey #10 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I have made so many enemies through this discussion that it hurts :(( do you all hate me now? :((
vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I have made so many enemies through this discussion that it hurts :(( do you all hate me now? :(( Yea for equating a performance in second rate form of cricket to Test cricket :winky: . Just kidding. 95% of cricketing fraternity would disagree with you on that count though.
Karan114 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 do you all hate me now? :(( WTF, are you looking for a :rose: from a certain someone :cantstop: As for us non-homos naah we don't hate you but do question your sanity in calling ODI cricket/Yuv-e-Raj as better than real cricket/VVS
Sachin_Rulez Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 It's simply ridiculous part from MODs to make it as a seperate thread and let this continue. There's only one poster who claims yuvraj to be better batsman and some posters are simply going after him and in process ridiculing yuvi and his achievements (or lack thereof). Its clearly evident that its more to do with Transparent (who also claims dada is a better test batsman than VVS ) hating laxman than his liking for yuvraj. Anyways bashing or ridiculing yuvi is always going to be favorite for certain posters (shweth, thal, graphic, etc) given the opportunity :winky:
ludhianvi Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Its probably a little confusing to judge who is the better batsman when comparing them over different formats i.e Test, ODI, t20. It would be better to judge a player in each format separately IMO. Everyone is nitpicking irrelevant stats from here and there just to make some argument. Just wait for how Yuvi's Test career pans out. Just look at his ODI career. He was a slow starter in ODIs but for the last 5 or so years, he's one of the main batsmen in the ODI lineup and has won numerous matches for India. And for those hinting VVS is as good as Yuvi in ODIs and t20. No way, not even close. Yuvraj is not just a batsman in ODI's and T20s. He's a complete package batting, bowling, and fielding in ODIs. VVS fielding is skeptical after he's done fielding in the slips. Yuvraj is only going to improve his average in Test cricket anyhow. So you haters better watch out. Before you know it, you'll be hailing the Yuviness. Please wait for a year or so now. -Bada Binga Bada Booma
vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 lol, what kind of a list is that. That was for satisfaction of transparent. ODI/T20/Test combined stats. :cantstop:
vvvslaxman Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 So you haters better watch out. Before you know it, you'll be hailing the Yuviness. Please wait for a year or so now. Nobody hates Yuvi. We all want him to succeed at all levels. He is outstanding in ODIs. He has a long way to go in Tests. Until he reaches that point this topic shall be considered as illegal :winky:
Rohan495 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 whoaaa. cant believe this thread. Cant compare Laxman to Yuvraj. First off Yuvraj is a more popular cricketer amongst Indians cuz hes a posterboy. But a cricketer like Laxman is still miles ahead as far as class, Let Yuvi hit a knock like 281, then we can start comparing. Sure you guys might complain about VVS in ODI's but this guy had no luck first of all he hurt his knees or else he would of the been the better fielders. and when he was in prime form in ODIs selectors dropped him. Yuvraj is good but not a better batsmen than VVS that for sure. Maybe as an athlete Yuvraj is better, but VVS isnt a bad slip fielder.
Sachinism Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Yuvi > in ODIs & T20 Laxman > Tests I don't know how you can really compare both. /thread
Guest Gunner Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 did u look at the other half? Strike Rate? I would take average of 30 at strike rate of 90 rather than average of 33 at strike rate of 75 any day That post mashallah is pure pakistani. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
