list some often used cliches which get overused to the point of abuse and which single handedly destroy a sports article. i refuse to read any after encountering one of these. 1) We are not playing for records. 2) To be the number 1 team is great but its not at the back of our minds right now 3) every game is important, we will play our next game with full intensity (captains speaking about dead rubbers) 4) I just played my natural game (after scoring a century) 5) I just kept the ball in the right areas (after a 5 wicket haul) 6) Our fielding needs to improve (hearing this since the beginning on time) .... .... .... go on.

OZ does this often: So as to not offend anyone etc, they will add "probably" and "a little bit" ALL THE ****ING TIME TO ANYTHING THEY SAY. Ponting:" We are probably a little bit better " Or " India were probably a little bit tired" ... It is ****ing irritating to hear it day in and day out...

Ravi Shastri during post match presentation.."better team won the match" :cantstop:
lol yeah that never gets old ravi shastri after close games involving india - the real winner is the game of cricket.

7) We did not played to our full potential. 8) We kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
lolllll yeah the second one should be banned. the captain using it should be fined 50% of his match fee.

^Go check out pre match / post match interviews ...
i don't think anyone will say 'we are a little better'. the media will have a field day with that.

Some of them are bound to be cliched. Because that is exactly what happens. Every game is ofcourse important. Would you expect them to say "No we don't care about next match.. ".. You have to understand press and fans will devour them if they make one mistake. Only guys like Sehwag who doesn't care about impilcations and talk whatever that comes to his mind. Best i have seen in balancing both cliches and genuine expressions is Mahela Jayawardane. Very interesting person.

well yeah, but they could word it a little differently, make it interesting instead of reading them out of a book.
