CSA explain lack of Tests in India December 07, 2009 Cricket South Africa chief executive Gerald Majola confirmed on Monday that the South African tour of India early next year will be a limited-overs only tour, with no Tests played. However, Majola said the decision not to have a full tour with Test matches as well as one-day internationals had been taken some time ago, and was not in response to India ousting South Africa from the top spot in the ICC world rankings at the weekend. "The schedule is very crowded, with the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies and the IPL next year, so we agreed with the BCCI that next year's tour would be one-dayers only," said Majola. "We will play the Test matches at a later stage that is convenient for both countries," he said. Majola said that the BCCI had wanted South Africa to reschedule the England tour of South Africa, so that the South African tour of India could take place earlier. "We couldn't agree to that," he said. "This tour has been planned for some time, and we need to have our Boxing Day and New Year's Tests. "But this is definitely not a response to India taking over the number one spot on the Test rankings. All this was agreed to long before that." The final itinerary for the tour of India has not yet been released, although the Proteas are scheduled to leave for India at the end of January. Link to comment
Sachinism
But why instead of a LOI tour couldn't they make it a test's only tour?? Not enough money for their pockets :wall: Link to comment

ViruRulez
:WTF: seriously I was waiting for SA tests .. we are playing only 2 tests that too against BD and it will be difficult to maintain the top spot without any tests with big nations .. feck .. though I like ODIs and T20s too but this decision has really saddened me .. a SA series would have been great to watch instead of playing countries like BD in tests :(( Link to comment
Celeste
So BCCI wanted to cancel/postpone Eng/SA series so India can play SA. Thank God SA had some balls to say no to BCCI for that. Link to comment

Totally. BCCI can go **** themselves if they are not ready to sacrifice/adjust its own demon (IPL) to adjust to a already planned test series. I can't believe they had the audacity in asking/requesting CSA to postpone its series vs England. Why should they ? Link to comment
Sooda
Good time to play test cricket its a shame, now people like Laxman and Dravid will not play much high class cricket for ages. The seniors should make a stand on this, I know SRT has said a few words. But seriously demand better of the BCCI. Link to comment

That's just the height of arrogance from the BCCI. Link to comment

Desi Cartman
Reality check : Most people watch ODIs and T20s.. very few people care about tests and at the end of the day its Business. I have asked many people in India & trust me 99% of them say " we only watch t20 or ODIs .. tests are boring " BTW Im sure CSA and BCCI will organize this test series at a later date in 2010. Tests in India can often be boring, but that's neither the fault of the format or the players but organisations like the BCCI who allow sub par pitches to be used that result in boring/dull cricket.
