Yuvi in flu scare, likely to miss Nagpur ODI Age Correspondent Nagpur Dec. 17: Already nursing a finger injury, middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh has been laid low by a viral flu, which may rule him out of India’s second ODI against Sri Lanka here on Friday. "Yuvraj has a viral infection and a flu. He will be undergoing tests," skipper M.S. Dhoni said on the eve of the match. "We are still not sure whether it is swine flu." The left-hander was conspicuous by his absence in the Indian practice session. When asked if Yuvraj would play, Dhoni said he’d wait and watch. "We will decide how he feels and based on his fitness, take a call on his availability. At the moment, he is unwell and that’s why he did not take the field today." Yuvraj becomes the third player after pacer S. Sreesanth and opener Gautam Gambhir to have been tested for flu. While the former tested positive for swine flu just before the second Twenty20 game in Mohali last Saturday, Gambhir tested negative. Sreesanth was discharged from hospital on Tuesday. Asked if Sreesanth would feature in the scheme of things in the last three one-dayers, Dhoni said, "We will have to decide on that. Also, a bowler of Sreesanth’s class can’t be ignored. He is an integral part of the team. If he is declared fit for the matches, then he is in. It all depends on how he has recovered." However, there was good news for the Indians in the form of dashing opener Virender Sehwag who was declared fit for Friday’s game. "Viru had hurt his knee while fielding in the first match. He was feeling a bit sore there but he is better and is fit to play in the second match," Dhoni said. The Delhi opener looked at ease, dribbling the ball and even managing to hit a few past the goalie in a football friendly during practice and even sent the ball soaring with the willow. * More...

Yuvraj Singh ruled out of series Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of the ongoing one-day international series against Sri Lanka because of a finger injury. Yuvraj had picked up the injury while fielding during the second Twenty20 in Mohali and was subsequently unavailable for the first two ODIs. He has been advised rest for the next two matches of the ODI series after aggravating the worrisome finger and his participation in the forthcoming tri-series in Bangladesh remains in doubt. Yuvraj returned to the starting XI for the third ODI in Cuttack yesterday and scored 23 from 40 balls as India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match contest. Yuvraj could be replaced by batsman Rohit Sharma, who last week boosted his chances of a national recall with a triple-century for Mumbai against Gujarat during the Ranji Trophy. The Indian selectors are expected to make an announcement shortly. The fourth ODI is in Kolkata on December 24, followed by the final game in Delhi on December 27.
