Former test opener chetan chauhan in a interview given to times now has alleged that the pitch was playable and if it was southafrica or australia the match could never have been called off, further he added he has faced worse pitches and match refree allan hurst personally told him one team did not want to play that was srilanka and his final comment was srilankans chickened out.also he asked why it took srilanka 23 overs to call off the game, he said as they were 5 wickets down for 83 they chickened out.

Never knew Chetan Chahan had a hotline with Ponting and Graeme Smith..Looks like it is the case after all, seeing how confidently he speaks for them... And reg. the chickening out part, Chetan couldnt be more right... Of course, players like Jayasuriya, J'dene and Sangakarra, who between them, have nearly 50,000 international runs and 35 years in the game, are all spring chickens. If our man Chetan had been there at the crease, he'd have taken every blow like a man and nothing short of cracked nuts would have forced him off the field.

by australia or southafrica he meant pitches there are similar like last year sydney test where there were large cracks and uneven bounce also in southafrica pitches had high and sometimes uneven bounce.he is right as no way due to high bounce match was not played.

Dude, no one is talking about abandoning a match because of uneven bounce. In this case, the ball was routinely exploding off length. It got to a point where the batsmens' skill became totally irrelevant and all that mattered was luck. Its the job of a captain to look out for your team-mates' well-being. It wouldnt have made sense to continue with the game just for heck of it and have one of your players deviously injured in the process. Sangakkaera (and the rest of the team management) did the right thing is protesting against the continuation of play.

to tell you the truth it was not unplayable batsman have just been pluncking on to the front foot on flat tracks and on a bouncy track they were caught unawares,if same thinbg had happened in australia or sa people would have questioned ability to play the bouncing ball as most australian media and southafrican media do to subcontinental players.

it was not exploding off the track dude' date='watch the match due to the grass it was skidding:yay:[/quote'] There were few balls which literlly took off from good, full length. Including the last ball, the ones to Jaya and the one which hit the opener

I doubt they chickendd out. it was dangerous pitch no doubt, ball was roaring up from very good length. Pitch was substandard, no doubt about that, Chetan Chauhan should be busy fixing the issue with DDCA, rather than calling SLankans Chikens.

It shows us in very bad light when we make stupid comments like that. I can understand fans saying that, but ex-cricketers need to be careful making statements. They need to stop behaving like Pakistani ex-cricketers.

Feckers at bcci are also equally responsible for this fiasco. Not sure if scheduling matches in peak winter in delhi/chandigarh or in southern coastal areas during monsoon season is the best way to handle things.
