Who would you cast in what role? You can repeat Sarkar if you want. Don Vito Corleone - Amitabh Bachchan Sonny Corleone - Sunil Shetty Freddie Corleone - Akshay Kumar (this one could be anyone really) Michael Corleone - Ajay Devgan Clemenza - Naseeruddin Shah Tessio - Jackie Shroff Hagen - Irrfan Khan Luca Brasi - Sanjay Dutt Sollozo - Jackie Shroff Al Neri - Vivek Oberoi Carlo Rizzi -Ranbir Kapoor the two roles I would be most set on are: Amitabh for godfather and Ajay Devgan for Michael...I can't imagine any other actor who could do a better job in those roles. If they weren't available, then I would settle for Naseeruddin Shah as the Godfather, and Vivek Oberoi as Michael.

I think they already did .. wasnt it called Sarkar?
yea it was Sarkar, but not as elaborate as The Godfather, but very good movie.

To be honest, I know I will upset quite a few fans here but having seen Sarkar and also having seen Nayakan (albeit the telugu version), there is no match to Kamal Hassan - he is like an encyclopedia (and a growing one) of acting.

The original is in Tamil directed by Mani Ratnam. It was based on a real character called Varadarajan Mudaliar (who, actually contributed to the climax of the movie), who was a coastal smuggler and lived in Dharavi slums. It was dubbed into Telugu with the name Nayakudu (both titles meaning, "leader"). Another great aspect about the movie was the music by Ilayaraja - it is stunning.

how about Hassan vs Brando?
I can still remember the scene when kamal learns about the death of his son in Nayakan, 20 years after i saw the movie. I saw Godfather as recently as 6 years back and none of Brando's scenes are that memorable. Ofcourse the opening of the movie is a little memorable but i cant really remember it properly.

THere are about 4/5 remakes of godfather and in bits-n-pieces, plenty more. The first was Feroz Khan's Dharmatma. Premnath was Don, Feroz Khan was Michael ofcourse. It's by far the worst remake, even worse than Aamir Khan starrer. Sarkar is probably the best (and no Nayagan had no resemblence to Godfather;s main plot). There was a Govinda starrer as well - Zulm Ki Hukumat in the 90s, which was okayish.

Some scenes of Nayagan and Agni Natchathiram resemble Godfather I. The son's death and the Don-father of the raped girl scenes reminds one of Godfather. The scene where Karthick and Prabhu(protagonists of the movie "Agni..") shifts their father's room in the hospital is a direct lift from the classic.

Agree. As I said, in bits-n-pieces there are plenty more movies that have copied scenes from Godfather.

How about Bollywood leave alone that classic and lets not f it up
Besides the original, none of the squeal parts should be called as a classical flick.

Besides the original' date=' none of the squeal parts should be called as a classical flick.[/quote'] the second one was too long.....it took them way too long to come to a decisision to kill roth and co. Also it's unlikely that a man of Lampone's stature would be sent to do the job, he's a caporegime and it's almost suicidal. The first one is one of the best of all time.
