The Aussie paceman's back injury flared during the one-day international series against Pakistan, and he missed the third game of the series before a brief and ill-fated return for the match in Perth last weekend. Siddle met with a doctor and team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris on Wednesday where the full extent of his injury was confirmed. "The source of the pain was investigated after the fifth one-day international and unfortunately scans revealed that he has a lower back stress fracture," Kountouris said. "The nature of this injury means that Peter will require a long rehabilitation period and as such he'll be unavailable for the remainder of the domestic summer and the tour of New Zealand." Meanwhile, batsman Adam Voges has been dropped as Shane Watson and Doug Bollinger return to the Australian one-day squad named for the first two ODI matches against the West Indies next week. Voges and Siddle are out of the 13-man squad, making way for the return of all-rounder Watson and paceman Bollinger, who were rested from the final two matches of the ODI series whitewash of Pakistan. "Adam Voges is extremely unlucky to be omitted from the squad after having limited opportunities against Pakistan," said selection chairman Andrew Hilditch. "However with the returning players and the need to get the right balance in the squad of 13, Adam has unfortunately missed out on this occasion." The first two matches of the five-match series against the Windies will be played at the MCG on Sunday and Adelaide Oval on Tuesday.
