ViruRulez Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 RIP Pune was a safe city till now. I think there are a lot of students in Pune as it is a sort of educational hub. Swine flu had already scared the hell out of students. Hope this does no make them even more weaker. :((
DomainK Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Very sad. Following recent trends, I wont be surprised if there will be more.
seedhi Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 This is the place where David Headley had stayed in Pune. Also, this comes one week after Abdul Makki, leader of Jamaat-ud-Dawaa, mentioned Pune as a target in his speech in the terrorist rally in PoK on Feb 5.

Sooda Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Local media reports suggested the blast may have caused by a gas cylinder exploding. Lets wait before we jump to conclusions http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/8514232.stm An explosion at a restaurant in India's western city of Pune has killed at least eight people, police say. The German Bakery, which is popular with foreign tourists, was busy at the time of the blast. Local media reports suggested the blast may have caused by a gas cylinder exploding. Police have not ruled out a possible bomb attack. Some 33 people were wounded in the blast, which happened about 1900 (1330 GMT). While some media reports quoted police officials as saying a bomb attack was suspected, a top official of Maharashtra state said the cause of the blast remained unclear. The restaurant is near the Osho Ashram, a mystic centre popular with visitors to Pune.
seedhi Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 Apparently, an unidentified bag exploded when someone tried to open it. A second bag was also found later. People should be educated thoroughly that unidentified bags have to be left alone and reported to the authorities. So many lives could have been saved.

achilles Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 While our politicians were busy sucking each other's **** over which language to speak and which city belongs to whom, people were busy planning attacks. They succeeded and when these attacks happened, the police were at the theatres! Wow, how proud I am today to be someone from the same city as the****sucking politicians!

Seriously? For FFS think about the people who died and stop calling bomb blasts as a gift..whatever your personal opinions on SRK, Shivesena, Pakistan et al is.
asterix Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Looks like the Union Home Ministry had passed information about possible attack on Feb 12th to State Police. The State Police were busy in some other bandobast and the home minister RR Patil himself was watching movies, this was bound to happen.. As long as the "real" terrorists like Shiv Sena are tackled peoperly by the Congressi Govt. and Rahul Gandhi able to travel "alone" in Mumbai locals, the objectives will be achieved. Naram Tatti Chidambaram was recently folding his lungi to get ready to travel to Pakistan for talks..Looks like Chidambaram has to wait..
seedhi Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 Around 2-3 months ago it was revealed that David Headley had done a recce of the Osho Ashram and the Jewish center in Pune, which are situated next to the German Bakery. And 1 week ago Abdul Makki of the LeT made a curious reference to Pune being a target of possible terrorist strikes. This is what he said:“Whenever our jihad in Kashmir nears success, India becomes ready for talks,†Abdur Rehman Makki, deputy to JuD leader Hafiz Saeed, told his audience, mostly traders from the local market, students from madrasas and JuD activists bussed in from Rawalpindi. “But what is this dialogue all about? [Former President Pervez]Musharraf tried dialogue for eight years. What did he get? What did Pakistan get? A ban on Lashkar-e-Toiba, while Shiv Sena is allowed to go free,†he said. ...... At one time, jihadis were interested only in the liberation of Kashmir, but the water issue had ensured that “Delhi, Pune and Kanpur†were all fair targets, he said. ..... http://www.hindu.com/2010/02/06/stories/2010020660781500.htmThis speech, combined with Headleys activities in Pune, should have sent alarm bells ringing. Apparently there were intelligence inputs as well. Somewhere down the line there has been a massive failure.
