Jaspal Singh and Mahan Singh, both businessmen, were kidnapped from Tira Valley, in Khyber agency, and Darra Adamkheil, in Orakzai agency, on January 19 and held for ransom. Sources in the area told TOI on Sunday that they were killed because they were paying `protection' money to a rival faction. However, according to security sources in New Delhi, Jaspal and Mahan were reportedly told to convert to Islam or face death. When they refused, their heads were chopped off and sent to the Bhai Joga Singh gurdwara in Peshawar. The Indian government has taken serious note of this and is in touch with the high commission in Islamabad. "This incident is shocking. We are looking into it," a source said. The miniscule Sikh community in NWFP and Afghanistan has been under pressure from the Taliban to embrace Islam, official sources said. The Taliban, during their reign in Afghanistan, had imposed jiziya -- a religious tax -- on all minorities, mostly Hindus and Sikhs. They were made to wear a piece of yellow cloth on their breast pocket to identify themselves.

According to information available with India late this evening, one of the Sikhs has been identified as Jaspal Singh. He and his two friends were residents of Badi near Peshawar. (Late tonight, a PTI report from Pakistan quoted sources as saying there was confusion on the exact numbers, that two men had been beheaded and others were being held hostage. It said the body of Jaspal Singh was found in Khyber while that of Mahal Singh was found in Orakzai Agency. Gurvinder Singh and Gurjit Singh, the sources said, were among those being held captive.) The men had gone to the FATA area for some work but were held by Taliban groups who apparently asked them to convert to Islam. Sources said the information so far suggests that the men resisted the order and were then beheaded.

Most ICFers considers TOI to be crap not only me.... Regarding muslim whether they are interested in converting others ( using sword) to Islam is a debatable topic ..... there are other religion also who have forced conversion .... we all know about the crusaders etc.. so why only point to Islam .

I know its difficult for you to accept reality but this is Islams problem so deal with it There were several blast done By moaist in India .. more than 24 people killed last week , when i was in India the Moaist put a land mine to blast a police Truck - 20 policemen including 3 inspector died on spot .. so now were they muslims ? I think they belonged to some other religion (no want to mention it) .. never saw u creating a thread on those news. So who do we blame ... this also happened in 2010.

All the major news channels reported that there major agenda was to kidnap them for a ransom , yah i do agree that few newspapers (TOI ) have given it a religious turn but it was not reported in the major new channels or reports when it had actually happened . And if its in reality then its really Sick that these things are happening.

They were sikhs but they were Pakistanis. Why do we have to poke our nose in their matters? So if something bad happens to any muslim in India, Pakistani govt. can also take a serious note of that? Playing politics in every thing isnt right. These were not indian students that went there to study. They were Pakistanis and have lived their whole life there.

They were Pakistanis and have lived their whole life there. and why shouldnt india care??? oh i am sorry there can be over 1 million bangbros refugees in india but u have problems with 600 to 700 sikhs who are fighting for their survival? there are not more then 1000 sikhs in the swat valley and over 160 million muslims in india, if 0.2% percent of them are killed not only the pakis but every nation would ask questions to india! Same thing what happ in orissa there was violence againt christians, india had to give answers to U.S:A, Australia and many other christian countries! and if there is violence against sikhs anywhere obv, they are gonna ask India who else????

The islamic pressure has worked brillinatly world wide from satanic verses to the danish cartoons. To question the religion of islam is banned in freedom of speech areas. This website is just a minature of this. Islamic terror and pressure in creating non freedom of speech in regards to their religion now rules everywere! The jihadis have won another battle!
