Texy Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 it's unfortunate that he's the owner of KKR and I would have to live with supporting this team his double standards are unbelievable....so he cancels the LUX Cozi sponsorship since all of a sudden he considers himself messiah for all muslims in India? due to the whole Rizwanur-Todi case and apparently due to "pressure" from muslim groups asking him to boycott this deal however, he still wanted to do business with pakistan and bring pakistani players into the payroll and has already hired Wasim Akram...calls pakistan a great neighbor even though no other country in the history of India has caused so much harm to this nation and its citizens and continuing to do so his exact quote: "It (Pakistan) is a great neighbour to have. We (India and Pakistan) are great neighbours. They are good neighbours." Remember when Shoaib Malik expressed his disappointment in losing to India in the T20 WC and apologized to all the muslims in the world? SRK's embarrassing remarks in defense of Malik: "I don"t think he meant to segregate Muslims and Christians and Hindus and say this was a match between Islam and Hinduism. I don"t think that..." so what is this? some sorta clever way to manipulate people from both India and Pak into investing in his ventures? or is there a deep dark agenda beneath all his actions and he has used his superstar status to bring it out to the worshipping public? p.s.: waiting for extremely unbiased M_M to move this thread to Jokes citing religious hues :nervous:
yoda Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 as far as I know there were protests regarding the Lux sponsorship, so he decided to let go of it instead of worrying about bands and processions which kolkatta is quite famous for. don't see what is wrong with that. I would do the same as businessman to cut my losses and continue on. now regarding his previous already beaten down statement about India/Pak being great neighbors etc, there is a whole thread on that, I believe.
punjabi_khota Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 He is married to a practising hindu. Get over it.
Clarke Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Only god can rid his soul of his sins .. he should be baptized immediately. FYI :kkr: still sucks :finger:
achilles Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I laughed like there's no tomorrow when I saw the advert of KKR's tie up with Lux Cozi. What a stupid tie-up! :hehe: The last time I laughed so loud was when Mumbai Indians put Zandu balm's logo on the jersey :hysterical:
seedhi Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I guess this can justify the economic boycott of the families of accused terrorists and criminals then. I hope these civil rights people do not cry when businesses refuse to hire people who are even remotely connected to suspected terrorists. By the way, the Todis were summarily painted as murderers in the media for weeks and subsequently it was found that the boy had committed suicide. But not a PEEP from the same media when a Hindu man was tortured and murdered in a J&K police station at the behest of the family of the Muslim girl who had married him. Our media is pathetically biased.
Guest Gunner Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 He is married to a practising hindu. Get over it. I wonder whether he would be so willing to have his muslim sister or daughter marry a hindu man. In India when a muslim man marries a hindu girl we see it as a great sign of progress but nobody questions why the other way around rarely happens. How many high profile hindu men are married to muslim women? If anyone brings up Hrithik they are gonna get ***** slapped.

How many high profile hindu men are married to muslim women? If anyone brings up Hrithik they are gonna get ***** slapped. Farah Khan. Here's my question: How many high profile Muslim women have you heard of in India. The thing is, by the very nature of Muslim society, women are not encouraged to get into the whole "glam" business, and I can't recall any famous female Muslim names in any other area (business etc). Btw I wrote about SRK's marriage not to show it as a sign of progress but rather that he doesn't have any hidden islamic agenda as OP is suggesting. He is a shrewd business (hence his various actions re:KKR etc) and thats about it. The fact that his children pray to both Gods, his wife celebrates all hindu festivals and that she wasn't forced to convert are to be noted here.

True, plus if we are talking about Muslim actresses, of the total sample quite a few like Nargis, Mumtaz, Sonam married Hindus.

But I think that Hindu man Muslim woman marriages also occur as frequently. A rather long list of both types of marriages : http://chalatmusafir.wordpress.com/2009/04/25/aaj-ke-jodha-akbar/ (amongst prominent people)

His family celebrates both Muslim and Hindu festivals and he says that he wants his children to grow up and make their own decisions regarding faith. That is very liberal.
CSK Fan Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 The pressure was only from muslim groups? The pressure was from groups all across Kolkata, cutting acroiss religions. When there were rightful protests against the DIG in Ruchika case, no one brought Ruchika's religion into it. Here again there seems to be a miscarriage of justice and the law bbent by a super rich guy. Why are we trying to give this a religious angle?

But when this happens the civil rights groups cry foul. On the other hand they support a boycott in this case. What hypocrisy.

They have not gone scot free. On the other hand we have politicians visiting the families in Azamgarh of the terrorists accused of planting bombs that killed dozens of people in Delhi. The very same Azamgarh which has produced notable terrorists like Haji Mastan, Abu Salem, Abu Bashir and ofcourse Dawood Ibrahim. Which reminds me that Dawood Ibrahim's family is living comfortably in India and I dont see any calls to boycott them. When Digvijay Singh visits Azamgarh and meets the family of accused terrorists then why dont the civil rights groups protest against him. Infact they support such actions.
Texy Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 few months ago there was a case of a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl in Kashmir where the boy was arrested and he died in the prison mysteriously....there was no outrage from either SRK or the MEDIA.... talk about double standards

The news was not even reported by the major "news" channels like NDTV and IBN. There is another such Hindu man Muslim woman couple from J&K who are living in fear in Delhi and the Delhi High Court forced the govt to provide them security - again went unreported in the mainstream media. Needless to say the "civil" rights people are also absent. Its a pathetic situation.
