Don't lecture us, tell us what to do: Pak foreign secy to India

NEW DELHI: Pakistan foreign secretary Salman Bashir has said that the Indo-Pak talks focused extensively not briefly on Kashmir. Hours after Indian foreign secretary Nirupama Rao and Bashir held parleys, the latter said in a press conference that Pakistan wanted good ties with India and that India’s concerns on terror were valid. “Kashmir was discussed extensively not briefly... One cannot be really dismissive about the issue of Kashmir; any effort to be dismissive on the issue will not be helpful,” said Bashir minutes after Nirupama Rao held a press conference. "It is unfair, unrealistic and counter-productive to make issue of terrorism in a generic way and stall the process of overall relations between both the countries." Bashir said. “We are concerned about human right violations in J&K.” “Pakistan does not believe in cosmetic engagement, Pakistan does not believe that India should lecture us and demand that Pakistan should do this or that,” he said. Bashir said Pak wanted composite dialogue revived. “India has had one 26/11, we have had a 1000 Mumbais.” Reacting to India’s demand to arrest Hafiz Saeed, Basjir said: “The docket given by India on Hafiz Saeed is a piece of literature not a dossier”. “Pakistan looks forward to reversing the tide of regression that has taken place in its relationship with India,” said Bashir. Bashir said Pak is willing to address and resolve Siachen and Sir Creek issues which we believe are do-able. “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has a vision for peaceful and prosperous South Asia... There is a huge gap between expectations and mistrust that exists between both the countries today. I have come here to bridge those differences,” he said. “We will continue to ensure :cantstop: that our territory is not used by anyone against us or any other country,” Bashir said. “To create an optics of dialogue without substance means we are not taking relationship seriously or dealing with issues seriously.” http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/default1.cms So is this a self goal by Congress ? From this article it seems like a massive pwnage

WTF :hmmm::hmmm: This is typical Pakistani talk, nothing to do with Congress(or BJP for that matter). They will listen to every country under the sun except one country which understands them better than anyone else.

This is the part that bothers me most since this line of thought is echoed even by the intelligentsia. Pakistan has had 1000s of Mumbais?? Really? When did a dozen or so Indian loonies end on streets of Karachi and started shooting at local population? Why is it so hard for these educated morons to realize the difference between Mumbai and a bomb blast in Peshawar?

Noob had already prepared the speech before arriving in New Delhi, nothing to look into or worry about, except ofcourse the opposition shall claim this to be a sellout. The talks were going to be a farce anyways; they shout kashmir/water/balochistan while we shout terror. Nothing is going to be achieved diplomatically since neither side shall move an inch. It is a means of showing the world that we care about diplomacy/peace/brotherhood, none of which is possible without atleast one side making concessions.

The talks are just a hogwash. Hope that pathetic excuse of a nation just implodes in the near future. Until then there will be no peace in J&K nor India nor the world at large.

IMO India shouldnt have broken all ties after 26-11 and if it did then get at least some objectives accomplished before resuming. It just proves to pak that we are soft... they openly celebrate kashmir day n orgainze rallies a week before these talks, promise ALL support and chidambram is discussing brining Kashmiris from POK in to the valley while there are riots happening every second day in the region. BTW I see the relation between India agreeing to talks & protests in J&K against India. How come there werent as many protests till 3-4 months ago ? Things are wrong on so many fronts that I dont know where to begin, in short this sarkar has failed in drawing a plan on J&K . PS: I am not BJP supporter but govt's confused policy on J&K is pathetic. ( whichj doesnt mean BJP's policy was any better) Good discussion http://www.ndtv.com/news/videos/video_player.php?id=1204764

Ya but they are your own people. Pakistanis killing Pakistanis in the name of Islam. That is what is taught in ur madrassas and supported by your govt and your army. No Indian national was responsible for these unfortunate events. What is really disgustings, is Pakistan supporting known terrorist and sending their own men to Indian cities to butcher innocent men women and children in cold blood. Honestly we do not care about you, and we expect that you just ignore us. I know a lot of Pakistanis believe that entire Kashmir is very eager for independence or aligning with Pakistan. This is a propaganda of your Government. I visited the valley last year, and spoke to many common people, like our driver, guide etc. All of them were Muslims, who were very happy to be part of India , simply because it is more prosperous and offers huge opportunities.

Shias are kaafirs - they don't count. Remember you are talking about a country which took away the right of it's only Nobel prize winner to call himself a Muslim because he belonged to a different sect and defaced his grave.

Why the hell do you people keep on saying that? Have you any clue what is going on in Pakistan? I just don't understand after everything that's happened, all you guys say that the army and the government still support these people. Tell me why you say that, I want to know.

I just don't understand after everything that's happened' date=' all you guys say that the army and the government still support these people. Tell me why you say that, I want to know.[/quote'] When I say that the army and the Govt support these terrorists, I do not mean that they support killing Pakistanis. For decades, the Pakistani Government has supported these terrorist for their own objectives in Kashmir. They have provided shelter to known criminals like Saeed, Dawood and so on and so forth. Openly, people like Saeed and Lakhvi have addressed thousands of people calling for jehad against India and other countries. These groups naturally aligned themselves with Alquaida and others, which had more global goals. Now, only after 9/11, when international focus fell on these groups, Pakistan WAS FORCED to act against some of these groups. Even then Pakistan has been successful in protecting its own assets, namely Lashkar and Kashmiri militants, but had to act against some of their own brotherhood. This has naturally resulted in a backlash in Pakistan by these home bred militants against their own Govt. Unfortunately innocent civilians are caught in the crossfire. But in India, islamic fundamentalism is exported from Pakistan. Indian muslims are being targeted by ISI for radicalization. I do not deny, that Maoist are home grown anti- nationals. Having said that, they do have some serious grievances. I just hope Govt addresses these issues and bring a quick end to this issue in a non-violent manner.
