Duminy, once hailed as the next Lara by Ian Chappell, has had a nightmarish tour of India. Not since Ricky Ponting in India in 2001 have I seen a highly rated batsman struggle so much on any tour. It is one thing getting out to Harbhajan in the tests (he's a quality bowler), but getting a first ball blob facing Yusuf Pathan in an ODI in the exact same manner in which Bhajji kept getting him in the tests is just too much to digest. Looks like this guy has been sorted out.... at least for now.

Duminy, who sustained a left hand injury during the second ODI in Gwalior, also developed tooth pain and took the flight back home last night. "He had developed tooth pain and left last night," South Africa's media manager Micheal Owen-Smith said. Duminy has had a horrendous run in the series and was dismissed for a duck in the Gwalior ODI which India won to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. South Africa's Kepler Wessels said the injury lay off would help rejuvenate Duminy, an explosive batsman when in prime form. "We mentioned a few technical and psychological aspects that we would like him to work on. It's a good thing that he will now go and play in the Indian Premier League where the pressure is not so intense and he will be able to regain his confidence," Wessels told 'Supersport'. In his last eight international innings, Duminy has managed 58 runs, including four first-ball ducks. "It is not unusual for young players to start struggling after early success once opponents start making plans for them. In that case it's the young player's task to find a counter. JP has the world's talent and I believe he can fight back," Wessels said.

In IPL, I still feel he will do good for :mi: In a T20 game, spinner doesnt toss the ball up and give it a tweak.The pitches are flat and doesnt change in 20 overs as such. Plus the fact tha tBhajji is in our team only, so duminy has no yhreat and he can go hard and big against most of the spinners.Plus in a T20 game, you dont look to defend much, its :Hit out or get out" situation for every player. So Duminy FTW

Duminy has 2 major weaknesses, facing the short ball from pacers and facing spin in general. I cant see him lasting much longer in international cricket.
