Rajma Chawal Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 This is so ****ing annoying, this is Cricket's showpieve event yet the BCCI refuse to hand our best stadium any knock-out stage matches. Eden Gardens only gets to host group matches while Mohali with its small 20,000 gets to host a semi. This is a joke. Not only Eden Gardens, but Chepauk and the Chinnaswamy are in the same situation while Ahmedabad gets a quarter-final.
teacup Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I agree the knockout games should have been hosted my top centers. The BCCI gave the venues the option of hosting 1 India game + 3 other games in the group stages or a knockout game and 2 other group matches. Mumbai was going to host the final, so did not really have a choice but Mohali and Ahmedabad chose to host a knockout game while the other venues were happy with one guaranteed India game. The venue-based match distribution: Mumbai : Final + 2 games Mohali : Semi Final + 2 games Ahmedabad : Quarter Final + 2 games Delhi : 1 India game + 3 games Chennai : 1 India game + 3 games Bangalore : 1 India game + 3 games Nagpur : 1 India game + 3 games Kolkata : 1 India game + 3 games
Zap_Brannigan Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Yeah......what an outrage. I wonder what happened the last time a World cup game was played in Eden gardens
Rajma Chawal Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Yeah......what an outrage. I wonder what happened the last time a World cup game was played in Eden gardens ya so what, going by that theory u might as well stop giving Eden Gardens any games
Zap_Brannigan Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 They should stop...Along with a few other grounds in India till they learn to respect the game and its players and know their place just as spectators and not mistake the players as gladiators.
Arkem8 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I lost all respect for that crappy Bengali crowd when they booed the national team because their favorite sucker wasn't selected. Good Riddance, capitalism and free market economy have no patience for liabilities like Kolkata. P.S Eden gardens is not the best ground, Wankade is..
punjabi_khota Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Mohali is as good a ground as any (including Eden) for an ODI. Why can't it get the semi. It hosted one in 1996 too :dontknow: :hitler: To the OP: The capacity is 40,000 and not 20,000.

Isnt Wankehede where someone aka Sachin Tendulkar was booed at his own home ground? :hmmm:

And I lost all respect of the uncultured virulent communal Maharashtrian people and society when they booed national icon Sachin Tendulkar in his own ground. A place which harbors people like Bal thackeray and MNS, is fit for thugs which adorn Wankhede. Before you open ur pie hole , Arkem or whatever **** ur, learn the history first.

Wanna play Politics Eh?? fine. 1. You treasonous rubbish can keep voting for the Chicom loving Communist Karats and Momtas..but migrant beating thugs like Bal are villains to you LOL. 2. Keep supporting a regime that gives ration cards/free citizenship to illegal Bangladeshis.. nice way of showing your allegiance to Bharat. 3. Whine like lazy biatches as your poverty stricken city is taken over by people that resist economic change and keep the Eastern region of India backward. 4. Booing Sachin is evil but booing the National team is allright eh?? and that other "small" disruption in the semi-finals of the WC:giggle:. 5. Portraying a backward and ugly face of "India" to our fellows of the North East and Nepal. 6. Producing obnoxious and vile leftist feudal trash that dominate the media and brainwash innocent youth. 7. Most so-called columnists in foreign(British) tabloids that dedicate their life to show how poor, destitute and castist Indians are come from one state--you know which one.. 8&9. Arundati Roy and countless other female Bengali feudal sellouts....and that retarded dinosaur MithunLOL 10. I am not a Maharashtrian but am sure as hell relieved I am not from a vile craphole like kolkata. Finally... Marathi is not my first language but I have a reasonably good grasp of it, there is a word for the likes of you--? NAPUNSAK!!

How quickly you blame the whole of maharashtrian society and culture for the actions of a thug and an incident at a stadium, but it pisses you off when similar allegations are made against your city. Unfortunately for a bucktoothed socialist like you, Mumbai is much too rich, generates much more wealth than your sorry hole-in-the-ground even if those slums, hoodlums, and gangsters are taken into account. The opening up of the economy was the worst thing that could happen to freeloading dinosaurs like the ones in Kolkata. Enjoy:yay:
Cricketics Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Semi Final should be in Delhi, The Capital.
yoda Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Semi Final should be in Delhi' date=' The Capital.[/quote'] one problem...you need a pitch. :hysterical:

You started it by talking about the incident at Eden Gardens and hypothesizing that the entire society is the same. When I paid you back in the same coin, you have the balls to sermonize me. Just STFU. You made the connection, I just pointed out that the hooligans in your beloved city are worse. Ya Mumbai generates much more wealth, has a much"Western" society. Did I ever say Mumbai was poor, I just said it was communal and lacked proper culture. Not as. a whole but definitely a city which idolizes Bal and his cohorts, should be ashamed of themselves.

Ultimate_Game Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Good semi final will not be held at Eden Gardens. Our record in semi finals at Eden Gardens is 0-2. We lost both the world cup semis - 87 as well as 96
straighttalk Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Wanna play Politics Eh?? fine. 1. You treasonous rubbish can keep voting for the Chicom loving Communist Karats and Momtas..but migrant beating thugs like Bal are villains to you LOL. You are really naive. Mamata is not a Communist. Migrant beating thugs are killing and abusing our own countrymen. But being of their own ilk, probably you think Bombay is for Maharashtrians themselves. People of your ilk dig up pitches, threaten sportsmen, I wonder why BCCI is moronic to play WC11 final in such hostile environments. 2. Keep supporting a regime that gives ration cards/free citizenship to illegal Bangladeshis.. nice way of showing your allegiance to Bharat. Ya I condemn it. Just to make clear, you are assuming I am a Communist. No I Have always voted for Congress. 3. Whine like lazy biatches as your poverty stricken city is taken over by people that resist economic change and keep the Eastern region of India backward. You are really naive to call Kolkata poverty stricken. Poorer than Mumbai definitely but far ahead of many states. Maybe for you, money rules supreme as I see you harping on it in all ur points. Just look at the number of writers, freedom fighters, musicians, nobel laureates, poets, this so called anti-social state have produced. And don't come yapping here with names like Himesh etc. Tilak, Lata Mangeshkar, Shivaji..such names are definitely welcome. Gujarat and Maharashtra are known for producing businessmen who knows profits and are good. 4. Booing Sachin is evil but booing the National team is allright eh?? and that other "small" disruption in the semi-finals of the WC:giggle:. You have a selective memory. Did I say the Eden incidents were good and booing Sachin was evil. No I pointed out that Wankhede was not some pious place which you were deliberately trying to portay. Pitch tampering and booing Sachin are enough to black list that place, if Eden Gardens is also blacklisted. Ask any cricketer or any fan of any country, and see how high Eden Gardens is held in their view. 5. Portraying a backward and ugly face of "India" to our fellows of the North East and Nepal. I thought these were the fellows whom you and Bal kill, maim and throw away from your beloved city. Your city is full of communal people who kill in the name of religion. How many communal riots have you seen in Kolkata. Last I knew, a poorer place is supposed to see more violence as they were monetarily poor. Wonder if it has to do with education, tolerance and progressive thinking. 6. Producing obnoxious and vile leftist feudal trash that dominate the media and brainwash innocent youth. 7. Most so-called columnists in foreign(British) tabloids that dedicate their life to show how poor, destitute and castist Indians are come from one state--you know which one.. 8&9. Arundati Roy and countless other female Bengali feudal sellouts....and that retarded dinosaur MithunLOL Ya I know truth hurts. You live in a rich society where you think that rest of India is just like you. The truth is in India, there is honor killing, dowry deaths, rampant corruption, there is unthinkable poverty. Maybe you think it is best to close your eyes and portray a rosy picture to the world. But there are others who care for the poorer and paint a more balanced picture. You won't understand this point as you care for money and luxury, so I wont waste my energy to make you see reason. What did Mithun do? He is a joker of the first class like Govinda and SRK. 10. I am not a Maharashtrian but am sure as hell relieved I am not from a vile craphole like kolkata. Finally... Marathi is not my first language but I have a reasonably good grasp of it, there is a word for the likes of you--? NAPUNSAK!! I would have appreciated it more, if you were a man and atleast had the courage and decency to translate your insult in English. See to show your higher cultural roots, you need to use derogatory words to demean your opponent and which he could understand?. Didn't Bal teach you that? And learn how to talk and behave in the internet before you use slurs. A place like ICF should ban hooligans like yourself. Finally, the discussion is about cricket. You besmirched a city by alluding to a few thugs in a stadium. I pointed out that Wankhede is the place where the crowd booed Tendulkar. Plus you have Shiv Sena and MNS, who threaten Australia and Pakistan, dig up pitches. Is this the right place to hold a tournament final? In its stature and history and ambience, Eden Gardens towers over all other stadium in India. It is of the same league as playing in Lords or MCC. And i do agree with your points that Kolkata is poorer "economically" because of the Left policies.
