A right-wing political party in Mumbai, Shiv Sena, made threats against Australian cricketers recently and it was reported that the Taliban and al-Qaeda would go after high-profile sporting targets in India. Player associations in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and England have commissioned an independent security report, which suggested the threats were real. "It's an ongoing thing. I think it's 99 percent certain that every player will be going," said Smith. "I know Cricket South Africa, the player associations and the IPL are doing everything possible to make sure that everyone's security fears are addressed. We know there have been a few issues around, but I think everyone's making an effort to make the tournament go ahead." Mohammed Moosa-jee, the South African team manager, said CSA had received assurances from the BCCI "that all the measures will be in place and our guys will be safe". Lalit Modi, the IPL commissioner, has been at pains to suggest the event will be free from security threats. On his Twitter feed last week, he said he had "spent the whole day on security briefings venue by venue. The team did a great job in putting the plan together and have started the implementation." However, what Modi failed to mention was that had it not been for the security report commissioned by England, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand players from Reg Dickason, the England team's security specialist, those fears might not have been addressed. While the national team players will be released to play in the semi-finals and finals of the Pro20 this week, CSA are still waiting for confirmation of whether they will host the IPL Champions League in September. Warne and Martyn have supported IPL throughout and are tweeting that they are going to be in India .. Just checked Martyn's twitter and he is already in Dubai and on route to India ... Warne confirmed that he is coming to India on Thursday on his twitter .. so it seems everybody is coming .. it is now only the English who are acting arrogant rest all are fine it seems These are UV, Warne and Martyn's twitter if you want to track the updates: http://twitter.com/yuvsingh09 http://twitter.com/warne888 http://twitter.com/dmartyn30

Cricketics
This whole thing is quite funny actually. South Africa just 2 weeks before the IPL starts is in India to wrap up their bilateral series against India and now people were questioning if they will be back for IPL which starts 2 weeks later. That is one of the reason why all these speculation stirred by people across the border will not hold water. Australia played 7 match series. Now SA finished playing. Srilanka played here. What more proof you want?
