Salil Ankola is laughing and looking fit and healthy .. he is hardly looking in any trouble .. why to organize such a big charity match for him .. what has he done so great about Indian cricket that he deserves so much respect .. and what actually happened to him that he requires such a big sum of money through a benefit match :hmmm: I can understand a charity match for a natural disaster like earthquake, flood etc. and when large funds of money are required but why a charity match for a person who ditched cricket and went to Bollywood :hmmm:
A benefit is a match or season of activities granted by a sporting body to a loyal sportsman to boost their income before retirement - wikipedia

How about playing a charity match for Ramakant Achrekar(guru of Sachin Tendulkar) ?

He ditched cricket when he was at the peak of his career and went to Bollywood instead .. so how is that loyal sportsman :hmmm: Anyways hope he has a good retirement ... he hardly could break into Bollywood except a few side roles or crap films

Is Agarkar also playing?
No

I agree.... the real gems of cricket who gave their life to cricket are suffering from a lame retirement while a man who ditched cricket has a benefit match .. sometimes I get surprised at the irony

I would rather help Saba Karim who almost lost his one eye when he was keeping to Kumble. And he never made a comeback after that. His career suffered because of that injury.

If I recall correctly, Ankola had a car crash which put an end to his professional cricket career (some can argue that it may not have kicked off but you never know). Which is probably one of the reasons he turned to acting on TV I think it's a nice gesture to have a benefit match for him. At least for the sinking feeling that he must have got when he had to quit playing cricket. And it's good to see Ankola developing a career in acting

If that is the case and he did not ditch cricket himself then maybe it is fine .. somebody said it was due to alcohol addiction and that is not a justified reason for charity Sachin letting loose now
