Desi Cartman Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 A housemate of toddler Gurshan Singh placed the boy unconscious in the boot of his car and drove him around for at least three hours before dumping him in a field north of Melbourne, police allege. Gursewak Dhillon, 23, faced an out-of-sessions court hearing before a bail justice at the St Kilda Road police complex charged with manslaughter by criminal negligence. Detective Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles of the homicide squad said Dhillon lived at the same address in David Street, Lalor as three-year-old Gurshan, his parents and six others. Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles said Dhillon ‘‘placed the child in the boot of his car unconscious but still alive’’. ‘‘He then drove up to at least three hours with the child in the boot of the car, eventually stopping at Oaklands Junction, where he placed the child from the boot into the grass and did not check to see if the child was alive, then returned to 28 David Street, Lalor,’’ Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles said. Dhillon was arrested at a friend’s house in Mill Park, in Melbourne’s north, at 10am today. Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles gave no evidence about how the little boy came to be unconscious. Dhillon appeared before the hearing dressed in a white polo shirt, black tracksuit pants and brown thongs and appeared calm throughout the hearing, referring to the dead boy at one stage as ‘‘the kid ... the kid that died’’ when asked who lived with him at the David Street address. Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles said police opposed bail because Dhillon had few ties to Australia and was under investigation by immigration officials over allegations his passport may be false. Dhillon, a part-time taxi driver who just bought a small truck and was due to start full-time work with a courier company on Wednesday, lives in Lalor with his wife. He has a daughter in his native India. Dhillon applied for bail, offering to leave his passport and driver’s licence with police and initially telling the bail justice he could stay at the Mill Park house where he was arrested. But Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles said police had spoken with the man’s friend and were told that ‘‘because of the events that transpired today he (Dhillon) is no longer welcome there’’. Dhillon then gave the phone number of another friend, a man with whom he plays cricket and who lives in nearby Epping. He said his friend would be happy to take him in as long as the media was kept away from the man’s house. First bail justice Ben Czerniewicz, then homicide squad Detective Inspector Steve Clark tried the number, but found it to be out of service. Mr Czerniewicz then remanded Dhillon in custody amid concerns that he posed an unacceptable flight risk and could also tamper with witnesses in the case. Dhillon is due to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. Gurshan vanished from the Lalor house while his mother was in the shower and his father was at a nearby library on Thursday. His body was found by a council worker about 7pm that day in long grass at the intersection of St Johns and Wildwood roads, Oaklands Junction, behind Melbourne Airport. The boy’s parents were interviewed by police and viewed his body yesterday. Both were expected to return home to Kotkapura in Punjab but cancelled their plane tickets after their son’s death link Bastard killed a 3 yr old :wall:

achilles Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Its comin from the Aussie police. And I don't really think they are trust-worthy. Having said that, we don't have a choice, do we?
Nova Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Its comin from the Aussie police. And I don't really think they are trust-worthy. Having said that' date=' we don't have a choice, do we?[/quote'] Don't speculate like this :headshake: Are you surprised that a Indian could kill a 3 year old? There are twisted retards in all countries. Who can forget the 2006 Noida serial killings.

Who can forget the 2006 Noida serial killings. Nope. Not surprised that an Indian could kill a 3 yr old. Just dislike the way they seem to be on a mission to somehow show us how we are ourselves responsible for the stuff happening there to us (ref: John Brumby trying to generalize while talking about the guy who burnt his car for insurance). They should spend more time on taking action against the perpetrators of racial attacks than trying to find an Indian hand & fault to stuff. Its still not proven in court that this guy is guilty. Hence my comment. Having said that, if this guy is indeed guilty (its not proven yet in their court), they should cut his balls off and parade him naked in Afghanistan
Ram Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Its funny how the world media works. Normally, the news of the death of a 3 year old toddler, as tragic as it is, would never find its way to the headline pages of major news agencies across the world. But given the backdrop of the recent attacks against Indians, this news piece gets a lot of attention, only for us to find out in the end that this was probably a routine crime and there was no racial connection.
IKnowU Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 nice PR job by the aussies. compared to the Indian Media. Definitely :giggle: One interesting thing I found was that all the attacks in the last few months on Indians are all Punjabis. Coincidence? I think not. So next time you hear another murder/bashing/racism its safe to bet that it involves a Punjabi. With there dodgy way of living in Oz no wonder they make front page news. They should spend more time on taking action against the perpetrators of racial attacks than trying to find an Indian hand & fault to stuff. Its still not proven in court that this guy is guilty. Hence my comment. Seriously, if the Oz police didnt look into the matter the India media would be sulking its eyes out and put race tag back on australia again. The police literally solved the case in THREE days from the murder of the boy. And how can you doubt the Oz Police. This is a developed nation you are talking about not India. How long would it take for a similar case to be solved in India, Months? Years? Decades? Seriously they are probably racists out there in Oz, but when literally %99 of the cases involved indians themselves. What kind of perception do you think the Australian people will get? It damages the relations and view of Indians because of some stupid Indians(mainly punjabis) trying to benefit themselves...
Rajiv Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 srikarr, I think its unfair to mass generalize Punjabis like that. There are good and bad people in every religion, caste , community Given that punjabis have the biggest influx of NRI's, the problems and headlines will also emerge from that influx so its just about ratio It's the same in B.C, almost 100% headlines are to do with Punjabis, well coz 90% are punjabis so its obvious that it will come from there

Im just going by the facts. So far its been all punjabis. Why? Because they think they can get away with anything. The guy who was arrested had immigration problems with suspicion of having a fake passport and over staying his visa. Not only this, the house the child and their parents were living in consists of 12 PEOPLE living in ONE HOUSE!!!!! Thats illegal too in Oz. This is like this everywhere in Oz, not sure about other countries. I will wait for the day when a northie or southie get busted for similar offences.
Rajiv Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 ^^ Thats what I said, he happens to be a Punjabi, and there are lot of Punjabi immigrants everywhere. Are you trying to say that another caste has to cop it out coz the headline says Indian?

Go get help.
IKnowU Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 ^^ Are you trying to say that another caste has to cop it out coz the headline says Indian? No, what Im saying is because of constant actions from particular part of India, the whole nation of India is being represented as the same. Would you agree? Imagine all the NRI's in australia or anywhere else who live peacefully and have adapted to the country lifestyle now are portrayed negatively by because of the actions of some fools trying to benefit themselves. Its just like the racism analogy, we all know its only some people are racists but we in India just mass generalize the whole of Australia of full of racists. Its same things that is going to happen here in australia except its the public of view of Indians in general.

Imagine other punajbis, how tough would it be for them as someone from their community did it? Same happened with Muslims in the US after 9/11 I think mass generalizing is totally wrong ( Pakistan is an exception :headshake:)

In USA its the telugu community that has been vastly affected by all the violence affecting Indians over the last few years .. would that mean there's something wrong with them as well ?
IKnowU Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 The Indians are the one who started the *mass generalizing* now they are the ones who are gonna get it back. Unfortunately thats the truth.
Rajiv Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I think we should help each other instead of pointing fingers

What do you mean effected by violence? btw Im not trying to pick on anyone here. Im just saying for someone to get personal benefits they would do anything to achieve it.
IKnowU Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I think we should help each other instead of pointing fingers How? Everytime an Indian from Oz pops up on the news. We in India or the Indian Media unleash the Racism Card likes it means nothing. Such a strong accusation without any evidence really boils the blood in Australia for some.
