I think Australia will want to prove a point that they can play away from home and expect some big performances from them. With Lee and Tait in the squad comes a lot of risk, but if they get it right on their day, watch out.

They are a very underrated outfit..saw some of those qualfiers they played ..especially the one against Ireland..... May all the force be with them - routing for them if we manage to slip-up :two_thumbs_up:

I thought he fractured his hand and so wasn't playing for KXIP in the last IPL game.

I think England will be dangerous - they might not win it all, but i think they have the batting firepower to make Semis. It looks like Bet365 is offering 18/1 for Zim to qualify? Wouldn't mind putting down 100 bucks on that one. Too bad they don't let US residents place bets....

Although many people say that T20 is a lottery, it's not completely true. You can see from international statistics and match figures that generally the sides with the most economical bowlers win games. The best bowling attacks seem to win the most T20s, hence why Pakistan are at the top of the pile. Gul and Ajmal might be cannon fodder in tests, but in T20s they are the two best bowlers at the moment followed closely by Afridi. I expect Pakistan to at the very least make another final, unless they choke vs India again on their way. Problem with Pakistan will always be runs at the top, compare the likes of Hafeez and Butt or Kamran Akmal to what other sides have, I feel embarassed. We have no class there, no fear about it. But still they have a dangerous middle and lower order, Razzaq is slotted in to come at 7 in most games, that's a very dangerous player and for me, if he and Umar Akmal bat the bulk of Pakistan's over they will post big scores. If Butt/Hafeez etc bat the bulk of the first 10 over, Pakistan will be flying home. India have the most destructive batting line up, but their bowlers usually let them down. In the first WC, Sreesanth in the final almost lost them the game. I would say on the slow wickets of West Indies India have a good chance of reaching the semis and the final, because their part time spinners and Habjhajan will like the conditions. However that said, I've seen Harbhajan have a fair few more off days in T20 cricket than the Pakistani and Sri Lankan spinners. Sri Lanka look too weak, they really do lack the fire power in the middle that other sides possess. I would say Sri Lanka on paper shouldn't be in the last 4. Their top order and their bowling are very good, but that middle order is so crap, I can't see them doing well in WI this time. South Africa are born chokers, they won't lose this tag just like our boys have the tag of choking against India in WCs. I can't see them winning it, but with a strong batting line up and very good bowling line up, a semi final shoudl be where they reach. Australia have ever base covered accept the spinning department. To win a WC in WI without a quality spinner if not 2, is it possible? Very tough. I can see their middle overs going for 10-12 runs easily with the likes of Hussey, White and Hauritz if he plays. West Indies and New Zealand I think should be taken very seriously, as serious as Australia, Pakistan or India. Gayle and Mccullum can batter anyone, NZ have a useful bowling unit, Vettori is as good as any of the top Asian spinners in T20s. WI bowling will leak plenty of runs, but they've got an array of big hitters and should be no surpise if they make the Semis at home. England have a decent bowling unit and some dangerous batsmen, but they never win any World Cups or major events. They can't produce good enough performances when it matters. Australia, Pakistan and India seem to always in major events that they win string together a few individual performaces of incredible class. But England don't have it in them. They do have Pietersen and Morgan, but get those two out each relatively quickly they can't post anything of substance. So based on stats, history in big matches and current form. I would rate the teams as follows. 1. Australia 2. Pakistan/South Africa 3. India 4. West Indies/New Zealand 5. England/ Sri Lanka I am a Pakistani fan as you know, but I believe this is a reasonably fair analysis of the teams. PS. Although Pakistan's form of late in all cricket is dreadful, they have had time to rest, they've been planning for a while as well. I put them as 2nd favourites because their players will be a lot fresher than most other sides. It was a huge factor last June and in the heat and humidity of WI, it might be a huge role again.

I was just look back at India's squad last WC to see why is it they didn't make the semis, they should have and I see Sehwag was injured and Zaheer Khan. Zaheer Khan can be a great death bowler and no need to mention how dangerous Sehwag is, those are two MASSIVE holes to fill and it seems India were unable to. But if my memory serves me right, India's approach in T20s has generally been to lay a platform and not to go hell for leather first up, I remember in 2007 most games India started off slower than other sides. I wonder if that was deliberate or just a case of Sehwag and Gambhir taking time to hit their straps. Since it happened on a few occassions, I'm think it was a definate plan to reserve wickets. But with the line up India have, why would you want to reserve them? With Dhoni and Yuvraj behind you, surely that would give you even more of a license.

Pitches in Windies will be conducive to slow spinners. Knowing the track record of Pakistan batsmen against left arm spinners i wouldn't be surprised if BD pulls of a win.

Only the guyana pitches will spin if at all. Remember the last odi in Barbados and there were often bouncers going over the keepers head for byes. Im sure the groundsmen will know not to produce spinning wickets.
