"India has elected not to play any warm-up matches while Sri Lanka has opted to play only one warm-up match," the ICC said in a statement detailing the schedule of the practice games of other teams. The Indian women's team will, however, play a couple of practice matches against England (May 2) and South Africa (May 3). The Championship starts April 30, just five days after the IPL ends in Mumbai. "With just 16 days to go before the first match takes place in Guyana on April 30, both the men's and women's teams will play a series of warm-up matches against either other competing teams or host XIs where a competing team is not available," the ICC said. "The men's teams will play their warm-ups from 27 to 29 April in Barbados, St Lucia and Guyana while the women will play on 2 and 3 May in St Kitts. In line with previous ICC events, none of these matches will carry official Twenty20 International status," it added.

What do you expect when custodians of indian cricket (ppl like Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar of BCCI) themselves are busy raking in money from IPL and are least bothered about the national team. We suffered the same fate in 2009 T20 world cup when Sehwag & Zaheer were injured during IPL and still picked for the tourney and we are repeating the same mistakes again. I think it's due to conflict of interest pure and simple. When Srinivasan (owner of CSK) and Manohar are key stakeholders in IPL and our chief selector (Srikanth) is brand ambassador for CSK you know where their priorities lie. They are least bothered about the performance of the national team. These guys only care about IPL and money they rake in from IPL and not how indian team performs at intl level. Sometimes I really wish I were an Australian supporter - at least you would know that your board (Cricket Australia) and selectors would do whatever they can to ensure their team succeeds :(

The only for the team to not opt for warm ups is to get as much rest as possible...since they are already playing in the IPL...the guys are already in t20 mode. The only difference...the pitches and conditions. Probably size of the grounds as well.

So it looks like, we are the only team who are not going to play any warm up games and go straight into the tournament. Are we atleast reaching there in time to get rid of the jet lag before the first match or is it going to be case of lose to Afghanistan and then begin the blame game?

I do not think there should be international T20s at all. It should be restricted to domestic teams.

^^Agree. It should kept al club level, not even domestic teams. CL format is the way to go for T20, but have a IPL like leagues in all countries.

When is the team reaching WI? I hope they are already on their way and reach WI today itself. Reaching there on 28th/29th and then playing a day after will be foolish and very very arrogant as well.

maybe they should paradrop into the stadium 1 hour before the match..IPL jerseys and all..and then just change clothes and walk out for toss... Intimidation :giggle:
