vvvslaxman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 lol' date='are we watching the same murali vijay?is there another murali vijay who has played for india against the saffers?.[/quote'] Didn't entire Indian batting line up flounder against saffers? He did well against Lee, Siddle, Watson, Johnson who all clocked consistently over 140k.
cowboysfan Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 based on which performances? uthappa is a match winner in t20s.I really dont want to see Murali vijay play any other format other than tests.HE has a freaking long way to go before he can be an accomplished test batsman.now we are putting undue pressure on him to succeed in t20s when there is no need, any failure will reflect badly on his test status too.mark my words-we are setting him up for failure even before his test status is a certainty.
Aaku Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Ideally i would have preferred Rohit to be out. What does rohit have to do to please you ? :headshake:
UmarAkmal Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Murali Vijay is a poor selection in my opinion. Performances in a domestic tournament like IPL against bowlers who are showing up only for the sake of a pay check is not a good basis for a World Cup selection.
mastana Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 ^^ Score runs consistently for India :dito: But so far he has only impressed girls. :giggle:

Social service? :hysterical: Going by your theory entire pakistan team selection is crap as they suck at international level big time. Your domestic cricket is 100 times worse than any domestic cricket in India. Steyn clocking 152k and bowling with fire is showing up means what would you call Abdul Razzaq is sending 120k thunderbolts in your crappy domestic league.

Atleast for India..If IPL isn't the basis then what should be the basis ? ...This is the most recent competitive action our players have seen (no ****) in the very same format too

Don't tell me rookie like Umer Akmal didn't play any domestic cricket before entering into Pakistani team. :hysterical:
Sid Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 Sehwag absence is not a big deal since he is not a good 20/20 player any way. He is very inconsistent like Imran Nazir. Indians should be more concerned about Yuvraj lack of form. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: please dont compare a slogger to a great player, imran nazir can be compared to harbhajan
vvvslaxman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Imagine pakistan batsmen against Malinga, Steyn, Bond, Bollinger, Tait, Nannes, Zaheer .. :hysterical:

Bhajji is a better batsman than Nazir.

vvvslaxman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 :fear: But all of them can't play together. :dontknow: you don't really need all of them together. They just got prison pounded for 0-9 in Australia. Rain saved them for embarrassment in NZ as well.

spectre Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 sorry guys, have been quite busy for sometime and not joining the IPL fun, atleast for my beloved CSK (maybe thats a good luck ;) ) anyways, those who call for Uthappa have to first check the 30 men probables squad, which was selected way back They can only pick replacements from that pool Probables: Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, M S Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, S Sreesanth, Sudeep Tyagi, Rohit Sharma, Ashish Nehra, Ishant Sharma, Abhishek Nayar, Wriddhiman Saha, Naman Ojha, Piyush Chawla, Abhimanyu Mithun, Manish Pandey, R P Singh, Munaf Patel, M Vijay, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Pragyan Ojha, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin
vvvslaxman Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 anyways, those who call for Uthappa have to first check the 30 men probables squad, which was selected way back They can only pick replacements from that pool If that is the case it was right to leave him out. Uthappa was not in any great form in the domestic. It was Pandey who was in scorching form. Even Vijay was in very good form in the domestic cricket.
asterix Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Form in Domestic cricket. Right. Form in which form of domestic cricket? Ranji or Duleep tophy? I thought T20 WC is a 20 overs each innings match. Didn't knew that form in Ranji or Duleep trophy is the criteria for section. I thought IPL is the Indian domestic T20 league. Maybe I'm wrong. Is there any other Indian T20 series in which Uthappa failed? Players like Uthappa are made for T20. Uthappa will never get chance in Indian ODI team. Why not give him chance to play in the format it suits him. All the Vijays, Gambhirs, Nohits etc. get to play other formats too..
spectre Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Its easy to form opinions now, but you got to see when the squad was picked I surely feel Pandey deserved a chance ahead on Nohit, considering his aggressive style, IPL and domestic performance, but suddenly Uthappa came to everyone's mind, why, because he scored well in some IPL matches after the squad was announced Pandey meanwhile is pushed back, since he failed in most IPL matches. Selectors just cant foretell a player's form, they have to go by some performance, in their case it was the domestic and ODI performances which were held earlier I am mostly seeing the IPL scores and not watching major part of it, so i may be wrong here Form in Domestic cricket.
