zen Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Last time, I thought Pak victory was more abt fluke and luck (even though they have a good T20 record and were probably one of the favs). If I recall correctly, they got in to the 2nd round by beating Ireland (iirc) then had to beat BD and NZ to get in to the semis. Semis onwards some of their guys were showing good form, they had a couple of good games, while the other teams had bad games (may be law of averages catching up to them). And then you have Pak as the T20 WC winners :WTF: .... on top of that we have to put up with those delusional fans, who think that IPL were wrong in ignoring players from the T20 world champion team :hehe: If they do it this time or at least get to the semis then I will give it to them that they have a good T20 team :P

Still would depend up on the grp a team is in. If Pak had been in the grp with Eng, SA and WI, I doubt they would have reached the semis :P

That is the only way they can eliminate the fluke nature of this format.

No way is that group happening unless some of the teams you mentioned were playing really crap...and which case it wouldn't be as tough a group as it is on paper.

That would help a team like Aus to get back if it lost a game or so .... But what do you do if you have a grp like SL, Pak, NZ and BD? You would still expcet SL to go through and BD to miss out. Pak-NZ games would close contests, with BD having 6 games to upset one of the 3

I am talking abt the last WC and, iirc, that was the grp Ind was in. Replaced Ind with Pak to show that Pak probably wouldn't have gone through to the semis if it were in that grp

I don't know if they can be termed as 'superb' but you have to remember that they compete with other 'superb' international players so it's not like a team is missing out on something by not picking 'superb' Pak players :winky:

Has it been enough for pak fans that Sachin has been in the top 10 for over most of his career. has it been enough for pak fans that Sehwag has been more destructive and CONSISTENT in destruction then their over-hyped Afridi. but we are discussing t20 here and i can apply the same things in my argument, that your players performed good and you are number 1 in tests, and same here for pakistan in t20, our players have performed good in t20s thats why we are on the top of radar.
