For me being no1 in test is great but it gives you great happines and pride when you perform in world events in which this indian side falters badly,we perform brilliantly in odi series which are of lesser importance and pressure but in world events starting from champions trophy 2006 in which didnt win any pressure match and that bug has with us since then with exception of t20 2007 world cup (due to no expectations and no pressure). Though i dont consider t20 as any thing important but still it is a world event and again we are going the same route and looking like we will be out of tournament against wiindies in our next match. so with this thread i want everyone to know that we are never going to and never are favourites for any world event and why we are tipped as favourites everytime gets me mad and crazy. lets hope this ordinary side doesnt disappoint you in next years world cup but with our bowling lineup hope may not be enough

Yeah - between 2000 and 2003 we reached the final of two Champions Trophy (sharing the 2002 trophy with Lanka) and reached the World Cup final in 2003. But since then it makes for grim reading bar 2007 T20: 2004 - CT in England - crashed out in the first round 2006 - CT in India - same 2007 - WC - same (obviously given the importance this was worse than the CT exits, especially the loss to Bangla) 2007 - T20 - champions 2009 - T20 - crashed out in second round but didn't beat a single good team 2009 - CT - crashed out in the first round

One major reason in our poor performance in world events is that Sehwag gets injured before these tourneys. Let's face it - we can't perform well at a world event without Sehwag. He's the guy who is instrumental in India bein no. 1 Test side in the world and he is the guy other teams are scared of while facing India in shorter formats of the game. 6-8 overs of Sehwag in a T20 and I can bet India wins majority of times.

I do not think we are too dependent on sehwag but rather put it, sehwag is just in great form for India in the last 2 years that because of his starts, the work for others become easy that they do not need to perform well and for long which is then interpreted as sehwag only performing Remember Sehwag was in just terrible touch few years ago yet we were just winning some matches.

i tend to agree with you there ,we have dearly missed him in last and this years t20 world cup and champions trophy where our three main players were injured but missing sehwag is a big blow in last two years bcoz he has matured and has been batting splendedly since his return with a 150 in adelaide in 2008 but his batting is not coming to our use bcoz of his injuries just at the wrong time
