Nova Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Hmm. There are myraid chess programs on the internet, each with different opening variations. No one has the time to verify that it is being played honestly. It has to be played in good spirit. :haha: BTW on this topic - during the Kramnik- Topalov World Chess championship in 2006 - 78 % of Kramnik's moves were what the Fritz program would have played. This was the same tournament where Kramnik was accused by Topa and his manager of using computer help in his private bathroom that din't have surveillance cameras ( obviously ). He apparently visited the bathroom atleast a dozen times each match. Alright...good spirit it is then :hatsoff: And that story about Kramnik was something. It is not hard to put in measures which can prevent cheating in such high level matches. Even though you don't have cameras in the bathroom, the officials could have made it sure that there are no electronic devices there. It's a major slip on part of the organizers to overlook this aspect. Or was it just empty accusations by Topa?
DomainK Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 I think we should have a pool tourney as well? Takes less time and we will get more participants.
gaurav92 Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Next we can play poker :woot: :woot: That would be real fun :woot:.

Guest Evil Mod Consortium Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Laddoos and gentlegerms. The EMC, in discussion with valued members and participants here, has decided that this tournament will be played as a series of blitz games with a time limit of 5 minutes with 10 second move increments. This will hopefully ensure that EMC and the ICF Anti Corruption Unit don't have to stick their noses and worry about cheating. :D What are preferences among you lot for the layout? We have 16 players. Either EMC can organize a bracket, knockout-style tournament with quarters/semis/etc. Or we can split the league into two round-robin groups of 8, have the top 2 from each group advancing to knockouts. Or there's always the chance to do one big 16 person league with the winner taking the prize. Thoughts? (The Consortiumatti also advises Sachinism to not troal this thread about poker, if he values his bank balance. Leave the troaling to the professional troals.)
Mr. Wicket Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I am game for splitting into two groups and having knockouts from there.
Mr. Wicket Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I'd guess once people start actually giving some feedback in terms of how it should be set up?
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 No blitz games of 5 mins....i say make it 10 with 15sec increments....and yes 4 grps of 4 each and then round robin.
ludhianvi Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I also would like 10min initial with 15 sec intervals but Im not too fussed about it as its just for fun and I'd probably go out in the first round itself :hehe: I dont know why anyone would want to cheat here. Its just for some good time and plus you can cheat even if its 5 mins or 10 mins. Plus 10 mins would give older guys like some more time to think
EnterTheVoid Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Even if there are ways to cheat, why would you, I mean, we're all playing for fun here.
h4te Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Yahoo?? It would be nice if we could get something set up on the site, don't know :dontknow: 5 minutes sounds good.
ViruRulez Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I am in for Chess though I have not played in Yahoo chess perhaps .. I will check it out .. make the competition in four groups like World Cup and then semis and finals .. make the format shorter so that too much time is not lost in it It will be fun defeating all the n00bs above in chess :P :crazy4:
ViruRulez Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 It seems the Yahoo chess players are not n00bs .. just joined Yahoo with virurulez and joined a table and faced defeat :((
