achilles Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 they should have gotten uthappa in there but the message is clear that all new faces mostly so they have ignored even the old pacers' date=' sreesanth, RP Munaf the works. and to be fair Uthappa bar the IPL didn't set the domestic scene ablaze. Pandey should have been there so should mithun. As far as Badri is concerned i don't think he has got enough chances 2 tests and you discard him ? look at his first class record man. But yeah i think he should be developed into the next vvs for the test squad and not for ODI's imho so good that he is missing.[/quote'] Yes. I think if Robin checks out ICF, he'll be happy to see majority of the people backing his candidature in this thread. His lack of selection, coupled with continual ignorance towards Manish Pandey is very baffling. I'm sure Cheeka is going to have to answer questions like these for a long time. And Badri, class player man. As in, wtheck can he not do except for slogging? You need him in the team. But the fact is, he just doesn't seem to click when he gets his chances.
Sid Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 what the hell ,after selecting 7 bowlers in the side they select jadeja and yusuf which doesnt make any sense ,we have three quality spinners already in the side, they should have selected pujara and saurabh tiwary for those middle order slots
Sooda Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Vijay is ahead of Uthappa in the reckoning with good reason Way too many bowlers for sure, should have left out Ashwin and sent him on the A tour to England.. got in possibly Badrinath in for him...the squad is defo short one batsman..wont be surprised if DK plays as a specialist bat and Naman keeps The guys who are going on tour to Eng will get more from that tour than these lot...sparticularly if SL send an A team- which the will. So good thing the likes of Manish and Mithun are there and not in this squad
Sooda Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Three Indian spinners who had outstanding IPL campaigns - legspinner Amit Mishra, left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha and offspinner R Ashwin - have also been picked. Legspinner Piyush Chawla, who was chosen ahead of all three for the World Twenty20, is not part of the one-day side but will join the squad for the Twenty20s. HAHA...pretty clear what they think of that decision

But the fact is, he just doesn't seem to click when he gets his chances. true he can't pick the pace up but i don't know what chances you are rambling about. I think he is must in the test side and probably if you want a good anchor in the ODI side this is the chances badri has got so far 2 tests 3 innings one where he scored a fifty when steyn ran through the entire iddle order and sehwag was the top score and 3 ODI's where he saw india through to a tense win you call that chances ? he deserves more before you discard him in the used and useless bin imho
Sooda Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Manish had ONE good Ranji season, he needs at least one more before India selection The fact that hes in the A team to tour Eng is good news- that will be a LOT better for him from a learning point of view.
Gunner_Mania Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Anybody know who is going to be broadcasting this series?
Sooda Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Interesting this...Basically both squads selected today were quite interchangebale IMO ..two A teams.. almost equally good..consider the fact that Dhawal, Tyagi and Mithun are in the A team -a stronger pace attack than this 'India' side of Kumar, Umesh, Dinda and Pankaj... They should have gone the hog whole and sent Vinay Kumar to Eng too, with Irfan Though the batting line up touring Zim is decidedly stronger...again there should have split it a bit judiciously..why not see how Vijay copes vs the new moving ball in England- facing the likes of Woakes of the Eng Lions- would have been good test... Notable omissions from both- Irfan, Robin, Nayyar and Badri..all of whom should really have been in one of them
Sooda Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Another thing is the quite farcical captain choices for both sides Dinesh has lead his state and (i think im right in saying) his Zone... yet Raina leads the team Nice.
ViruRulez Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 uh.. far too many bowlers. Just 7 batsmen? What happened to Uthappa' date=' pandey, Tiwary.[/quote'] exactly.. WTF is Cheeka doing nowadays .. why are Uthappa, Pandey and Tiwary not playing in our A team .. this is nothing better than the A team and still Uthappa does not find a place .. It is indeed incredible ... I would have at least expected 2 of these 3 to be selected in this team .. our selection is also turning day by day
Sachinism Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 This is great news, this is what we should be doing for these T20 tournamentsS
asterix Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Seriously, Bhikhari Jadeja and Hero Yusuf should'nt be selected in any team. They'll lose most of the matches..
riya Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Seriously' date=' Bhikhari Jadeja and Hero Yusuf should'nt be selected in any team. They'll lose most of the matches..[/quote'] Yeah not even good for domestic tournaments,

rkt.india Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Utthappa is injured:(( Uthappa not fit for selection: BCCI Mumbai, May 9 (PTI) Robin Uthappa was not available for selection when the team for the tour of Zimbabwe was picked by the national selection panel in Kodaikanal as he was injured, according to BCCI sources. "Yes, he's injured," confirmed sources without explaining the nature of the problem but it was learnt from other sources close to the Karnataka batsman that he had a shoulder injury and may have to go in for a surgery. Uthappa was among the Indian players to impress the most in the Indian Premier League with his power-packed knocks for Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Anil Kumble. With the selectors deciding to send a second string team without several regulars, including captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who were all rested, Uthappa was a front runner to make the squad but injury seems to have upset his chances.
Precambrian Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Anybody know who is going to be broadcasting this series? Ten sports. Saviour of cricket in the wastelands.
Precambrian Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Another thing is the quite farcical captain choices for both sides Dinesh has lead his state and (i think im right in saying) his Zone... yet Raina leads the team Nice. Dinesh is not an automatic choice in any of the 3 formats while Raina is, atleast in ODIs and t20s. Similar parallel in Katich and Clarke for NSW.

Zelig Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 No Anirudha Srikanth?:omg: We don't stand a chance:headshake: ps; Chekka is biased. He is afraid his son wud eclipse him:giggle:
diegovegaz Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 this could have been a big oppurtunity for the young guns waiting in the wings just 5 specialist batsmen some deserving batsmen have been named in the india A squad one good for nothing 'all-rounder' a strong spin department though overall, poor work by cheeka again messed up big time
