Andy Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Totally pissed of reading the negetive posts in this forum. The reactions are quite justified after such a shyte show. Still i wanted to talk about some positives, so here it goes for me. Raina- easily our best batsman in the tournament. Apart from the innings against Austria he did reasonably well. Rohit - got two chances. Did well in the match against australia. So i think he should get more chances ahead of Yuseless Pathan in Odis. Bowling in the powerplays improved. Courtesy Harbhajan Singh. Though he had a poor match last nite. Vinay Kumar- the debutant impressed me a lot with 2 wickets for 30 runs in his 4 overs. He picked up two big scalps, Sanath and Sanga. For me, these are the only positives to talk about. Please add up yours too.

Do you think Steven Smith is a better spinner than bhajji ? ...probably not...just that he has some great support on the end that keeps batsmen bottled up and they end up playing rash strokes against him..

Agreed. But its hard to imagine if Kumble would have gone wicketless in 3-4 consecutive games regardless of the support from the other end (in a hypothetical scenario). I would say Bhajji performed ok but definitely count that as a positive.

I would say Bhajji performed ok but definitely count that as a positive. That is because Bhajji doesn't attack the stumps to create leg before, bowled chances. He just follows the batsman around. Watson just defended all his deliveries. If you are going to take wickets only when batsman goes after you then that is not really something to write home about.

I would say Bhajji performed ok but definitely count that as a positive. I dont know why it's hard to imagine. I remember Kumble not doing so well in different phases of his career. It's perfectly possible for a bowler to go wicket-less irrespective of his form or skills. Especially so in T20 (Kumble doesn't have very good record in IPL). It can happen all the more to a spinner when he has no other support whatsoever.
