asterix Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I think there are other issues whish Gary will raise apart from Fitness. One could be the careless attitude of some players..I can certainly say that UV, Bhajji, Zak, Nehra and might be Gambhir too have attitude issues..
Gunner_Mania Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I agree that fitness is an issue' date=' all I am saying is that we are more screwed than just being not fit.[/quote'] agreed and I am sure there is more to the report than just fitness and player attitude. The media is focussing only on the fitness and attitude because that is where sensationalism is. They can't sensationalise the fact that our backup cup board is bare, or the fact that the selectors made a hash of selection etc.
f2000560 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I agree that fitness is an issue' date=' all I am saying is that we are more screwed than just being not fit.[/quote'] true but gary has cited fitness and commitment... while these can be used as plug words for any loss i don't think so it is so in this case. fitness is obvious one look at our players and well its evident they have a had a drink too much or too much ghee on the parathas. as far as commitment well less tangible to qoute tcwj "That is something a spectator senses...you just know it when you see it...the quality of effort put into a game by players, and as sensed by those who watch and support their game, is usually the sum of many things. From their language before the game to body language on the field to actual play and strategy - it is a mix of all these which conveys impressions of a team's committment. It is easy to spot a team whose efforts have been bettered by another and one who failed to compete to the best of their abilities....for whatever reason or reasons. It is difficult to put a finger on such a thing, but you can simply sense it. Poor concentration and lack of committment can manifest themselves in various ways. From the absence of routines, through poor planning, slack training to actual play, in which errors are repetitive - the absence of anyone putting his hand up consistently to step out beyond their individual comfort zones for the sake of the team is usually well expressed and noticed by those who watch. A misshapen body, a duck waddle on the field, responding to a call a fraction late, moving to catch similarly, the inertia of leadership when things are not going according to plan (if there was one in place), the casual...almost disconsolate gifting away of existing talent through a mute application of it...they all so easily come together to suggest the state of a team mind. One might have easily recognized the same in teams at your respective workplaces/work situations too."
veer Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I am glad Gary is talking about it in open.. am frustrated and lot of other ppl are too.. so it actually does good by putting players under pressure.. party bahot ho gayi boss.. now perform or lose your spot.
diegovegaz Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 this is great for the team hopefully, the bcci will act, and things will fall into place, i.e. the fat will drop off :giggle:
Mamu Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Somebody on Twitter Dear Dhoni, blaming parties for this loss is like Hitler blaming the war loss on Eva Braun's unsatisfactory blowjobs
Bumblebee Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 So he waits for a tournament debacle to reveal these dark secrets? edit
achilles Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 At this point in time, Gary and Greg share more than the same syllable of their first names, between them.
Bumblebee Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 How about getting them fit before a tournament instead of *****ing about it after a failure? are they freakin kids that he would get em fit???? being fit is one of the basic things, which player self should be responsible for
f2000560 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 At this point in time' date=' Gary and Greg share more than the same syllable of their first names, between them.[/quote'] this time i think gary will get his way .. greg went for ganguly but ganguly to his credit came back strong ly and justified his inclusion. Greg questioned Tendlya commitment and that is an absolute no go area Gary's accusations are clearly evident this time BCCI better take notice and i hope they pay heed to his views.

Yuvraj & company won't have the same power as Ganguly.
nballa Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 wow. all its takes is a defeat in a lowly tournament to forget the number 1 ranking in tests and drop to the level of the fish eaters from across the border.

Deleted_User_1 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I am just tired to see these players not having focus and fitness. Just talent is not enough. Indian team does not have any consistency and it has been this way since the 70s when they started being a force to rekon with. BCCI is to blame as well with hectic schedules and IPL.
Ahmed Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 They better start working on their fitness, the 2011 world cup isn't far away now..
Desi Cartman Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 TBH if they are going to play for 10 months every year , they cant be expected to stay indoors at all times. The fitness issues have also come up because of so much cricket , some players play as many matches as they can, and are carrying injuries. Now how does one expect these injured players to spend hrs in the gym each day or practice everyday ?
b555 Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I agree that fitness is an issue' date=' all I am saying is that we are more screwed than just being not fit.[/quote'] and the fabulous selection committee makes matters only worse

Agreed, if they think their bodies are taxed from playing, then watch your calorie intake and weight. You can't be fit if you are carrying extra pounds and have a pot belly. Discipline is key and many Indian players do not have any.
achilles Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 How about getting them fit before a tournament instead of *****ing about it after a failure? Just how stupid is that? You want the team management to get behind the players like a taskmaster with a stick in his hand and take away the "freedom" our boys want? Do you want Gary to be another Greg? Don't you know how our boys react on being told what to do? Somebody on Twitter Dear Dhoni, blaming parties for this loss is like Hitler blaming the war loss on Eva Braun's unsatisfactory blowjobs This "somebody" is a legend. Link to the profile, please :--D this time i think gary will get his way .. greg went for ganguly but ganguly to his credit came back strong ly and justified his inclusion. I think Gary is great for Indian cricket, coz he can just shut up and let the players and the board have their way. He is the kind to be dominated into submission (I'm refering to a gag on him, which is going to be enforced on him in the near future). He has disrespected the BCCI directive of not talking about stuff in the media (during the past IPL), so we can be assured to see him put in a corner. As for Ganguly, he had made the kind of comeback that no one has IN THE HISTORY OF CRICKET
