Team India coach Gary Kirsten's report is to be a shocking statement on players. Several players are dubbed unfit, overweight and worse unwilling to take corrective action. Top sources have revealed to TIMES NOW the predicament of Team India coach Gary Kirsten. This is the first look of what is likely to be in Gary's report. In part 1, Gary is likely to report that eight players in the Indian squad are overweight and that three of them are grossly unfit and are refusing to take corrective action. It is also indicated that these three players are just not fit for any kind of international sport, let alone T20 cricket. Team management had one-on-one meetings with each player and tried to convey the responsibility they had for the country. Some players have told the team management they find it diffficult to maintain codes of discipline. Several of the players say that discipline norms that put a leash on parties, pubbing and drinking are impractical. These players have told Kirsten that unless a whip is cracked, they will not accept codes of conduct. Several players said they can't "control" themselves on certain occasions when it comes to partying and recreation. They had told Gary Kirsten that off the field they need the "freedom" to do what they want, even on tour. Some players are of the opinion that there could be a fine if disciplinary codes are broken. Coach bypassed by selectors Shocking revelations regarding selection have also been made by top Sources to TIMES NOW. According to TIMES NOW sources, India coach Gary Kirsten was not consulted by Indian selectors while choosing the team for Zimbabwe. Gary Kirsten, Eric Simmons and Paddy Upton wanted to include Ishant Sharma for the Zimbabwe tour. They felt it was Ishant's best chance of coming back to form. Srikanth and the other selectors did not bother to consult the coaching trio. Gary Kirsten is upset, and will convey his striong views to the BCCI at the earliest. http://www.timesnow.tv/Indian-crickets-darkest-secrets-out/articleshow/4345079.cms

Apparently Gary has said that he is fitter than some of the players:)) Gary:hail:looks like he'll be gagged or removed though

he addressed them i think ? i think this time BCCI will not gag the coach or remove him. unlike 2007 where public opinion was probably not with greg chappel thanks to dada fiasco i think people probably lend a lot of credence to Gary's words ( which is apparent to anyone who has seen yuvraj) firing him or gagging him this time will only lead to more backlash instead they will endorse it and ask the players to get in line (hopefully)

'I'm fitter than certain players' - Gary Kirsten Gary Kirsten, India's coach, has come down hard on some of the Indian players' "fitness and commitment" after his side failed to win a single game in the Super Eights of the World Twenty20, a repeat performance from last year. Before addressing the team and handing them a dressing-down in the West Indies, Kirsten had a one-on-one interaction with senior players - MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra. Sources said that Kirsten told the team he was angry to see that even he - a 42-year-old - was fitter than some of the players. Yuvraj and Rohit Sharma got special mention with regards to fitness, the sources said. Kirsten demanded better fitness from the players and gave them one month to show results on that front. Kirsten also said in the meeting that the players seemed content with the No. 1 ranking in Tests and the No. 2 in ODIs, and were not committed to the team cause in the World Twenty20. It is worth noting that only four of the 15 players present there are sure starters in Test matches: Dhoni, Gambhir, Harbhajan and Zaheer. India's early exit from the World Twenty20, their third such effort in last three global events, has drawn harsh criticism from various quarters, but this coming from the coach is the most damning of all. After last year's debacle too, Kirsten had raised similar fitness and intensity questions. He had blamed IPL fatigue then. His plea bore little result this year. After a six-week-long IPL, India got a five-day break before their first match in the world Twenty20. Yuvraj, coming back from a wrist injury, played all 14 of Kings XI Punjab's matches. Zaheer sat out of two of India's five matches in the World Twenty20. Zaheer, Gambhir and Nehra missed matches at various stages of the IPL, and Nehra was picked for India even before he had returned to full fitness for Delhi Daredevils. http://www.cricinfo.com/world-twenty20-2010/content/current/story/459543.html

So he waits for a tournament debacle to reveal these dark secrets?
to be fair he did this last year after that debacle complaining of fatigue and fitness if anything people seemed to have added a few more pounds. plus what good would it do publicly lashing at players before the tournament on the fitness it would only affect the morale of an unfit team . the best he could have done was serve a report with bcci before the tournament making his observations known then itself

I don't know what he could have done, but how does it do any good to complain about these things AFTER the failure other than to use it to deflect blame?

How can he get them fit' date=' when the board had a 6 week domestic tournament on?[/quote'] Good point, still it doesn't do much good to complain about it now.

I don't know what he could have done' date=' but how does it do any good to complain about these things AFTER the failure other than to use it to deflect blame?[/quote'] Because in India (especially BCCI) there is a chance of taking some action when the team loses. Otherwise nobody cares.. Gary's report might look as hindsight but I'm sure he might have pointed out these issue earlier too. They might not have got highlihghted earlier. I hope something happens to remove some of the unprofessional rotting players..

deflect blame from who? himself? He is not deflecting the blame' date=' he is pointing out the weakness.[/quote'] Let's face it, fitness is not the main issue here. We have two unfit players in Rohit and Yuvraj and Rohit played one of the best knocks of the tournament. We couldn't bat or bowl to save our lives and all this from reasonably fit players like Vijay, Gambhir, Jadeja, ...

How about getting them fit before a tournament instead of *****ing about it after a failure?
the report apparently says they refuesd certain fitness regimens ? they wanted the "freedom" on tours. ...... take the horse to the water, you can.... like jedi master yoda would say :--D
