Dhoni's captiancy

He should have played Vinay Kumar in Barbados on a bouncy pitch. Shouldn't have gone with 5 bowlers + YKP in the initial matches. Ofc it is easier for us to say all these from here' date=' we don't know what pressures he has when picking the team and who are all involved in the final call, which is why it is always a team effort.[/quote']
i dont want sehwag to be the captain(mainly because fans will now turn on him).i have been critical of dhoni's captaincy before but he is forced t work with the 6 or 7th rated bowling attack in the world.why blame him for our bowlers mediocre performance?.many of the games we have lost in t20s and odis could have won if the bowlers held up their end of the bargain. We need to fix the bowling.i would suggest by not picking Zak for limited overs cricket' date='he brings nothing to te table.bring in a young hungry guy and let him prove himself.[/quote'] Yeah, we never know but still, if he won the toss and fielded first with one bowler short (blunder no. 1), and he says that he wanna exploit the early swing and bowls the majority of the intial overs wid spinners, aint it evident that he had no clue about what to do and was just playing mr. smarty pants? And the batting order in the last match, don't you guys think that it was a total mess?

By chasing in important WC matches , Dhoni was only following the illustrious DADA. By chosing to go with a bits and pieces players like Jadeja, Dhoni again was only following the illustrious dada (who backed Mongia ahead of VVS for 2003 WC). Can't really blame Dhoni there. Was following the example of India's best ever captain.:winky:

Yeah, the Australians would have conceded the match seeing Vinay 'Garner' Kumar charging in on the bouncy Barbados pitch. :hysterical:

^^ lollll Seriously if Vinay played and possibly got smashed, we would have had, why is Dhoni picking a trundler for the Barbados pitch. Ban Dhoni!!! Seriously some people just need a reason to whine. I think there must be psychological issue here. I'm gonna go investigate, as the psychological therapy offices are on the floor above.

probably you need to learn cricket, Jadeja was our best bowler over the last 6 months and that why dhoni was rightfully can have confidence in him Don't just say that just because we failed now

You are right, people who are upset at getting ZERO wins in Super 8s for the second tournament in a row and are trying to see the reasons do need psychological help.

this thread and OP has got much more credibility now that there are serious talks about getting rid of Dhoni from captaincy...
If you think that what the Times of India reports is serious talks, you are right the credibility of this thread and OP is unquestionable, although I don't know where and when I questioned the credibility of the OP.

Dhoni is not being sacked by BCCI. Dhoni is here to stay. Although there are talks of "analysing" the performance etc. and going through the "reports". Not many heads will roll but some unfit players like UV, Nohit etc. are soon going to find it tough going. Ideally I woudl've liked Raina to be groomed for ODI and T20 captaincy and relieve lot's pressure on Dhoni's shoulders (Like the Australian & English teams which has separate captains for different formats). Also having separate set of players fro different formats is the way to go. Thos who are good in ODIs in Subcontinent flat pitches might not be good in T20 format in Non-Subcontinent pitches. It looks like UV, Nohit and few others will be dropped from the Srilanka series. Dhoni is staying and I hope he grooms Raina to step in future.

One of the perils on Indian cricket - the quota selection. It happens in every squad which is picked. The fringe players of the 15 man squad who are unlikely to get a game are picked to keep the Babus happy. And it's not that we will learn. Just recently we were forced to field Saha as a specialist batsman thanks to the malady. Obviously, there is no way to prove it but Vinay Kumar would have been slaughtered by the Australians and people would have been asking why did Dhoni play a mediocre medium pacer against the Australians instead of relying on our traditional strength of spin and batting.

Wowie wowie, wove, that's an excellent find right there..! :--D If I'm right, lakshman was never picked for the WC itself. Now I never blamed dhoni for not selecting, uthappa, tiwari etc, did I? I'm talkin about how he messed around wid the team he had.. Okay forget it.. Why should one prefer, a poor runner between the wicket, and not so good batsman in ODI's who was not really in great form, to a batting allrounder, who was relatively new to the scenario? And he was not as disastrous as Jadeja was if I remember right, was he? :winky: And oh, about batting first in the finals was to take advantage of the early swing, and he didn't bowl bhajji in the early overs.. :winky:

Err, dude, I wish you had read what I wrote before arriving to such conclusion. Well, forget it, about Vinay's selection, he was never an economic bowler, but he can be a decent strike bowler... And, if the captain cant show enough aggression and courage to go with 4 regulars there, I'd daresay bangladesh or zimbabwe can do a much better job. Forget everything, if he wanted to exploit early swing, as he said, pray tell me why did he started off wid bhajji and gave 3 off 5 overs to spinners? That clearly shows he had no plan A, forget plan B.

Just coz a part timer (I won't call him an allrounder, sorry :winky:) bowls well for a couple of serious or so, suddenly you gotta make him your frontline bowler or what? Then I think aussies can afford to play one more batsman coz Michael Clarke bowls well for them :cantstop: Most of the matches he bowled well were Indian pitches, if I'm right.. And you never ever can afford to play an allrounder who neither clicked with the ball, nor with the bat in a do or die match..

Yo. mate.. Feels good to know someone read the post and understands what I'm tryin to say.. :two_thumbs_up:

Vinay Kumar may not be the right choice, but does that mean you had to load the team with part timers and bowl first winning the toss on a bouncy track..? If he wanted to bowl first on bouncy track, you never ever can afford to play one bowler short.. Hpwever bad Vinay may be, it's way better than playing jadeja who never clicks with the bat, and often a mediocre bowler on a bouncy track.. Agree or not?
and its eternally blissful combination found in Jadeja
:haha:
