a lot of english commentators during the 1970s said that what the west indies bowlers were doing to their batsmen was not cricket... infact they accused bowlers like holding, garner and roberts of unethical cricket. holding thinks pollard is not a cricketer? well he aint seen pathan yet...

I'm still to come in grips with these newly introduced phony ODI rules like free hit off no balls' date=' powerplays, etc. I was so very cool with the previous 15 overs fielding restrictions rule. I'm not saying that the introduction of powerplays have had a negative impact on ODI cricket, it's just that I find it incredibly hard to come into grips with changes in cricket. And I despise this rule of free hit off no balls in ODI cricket. Maybe it has made the format a little more exciting, but I like it the way it used to be. Ah, how I miss those good old days .........[/quote'] You see there in lies the problem, your (and I don't mean you personally) ability to adapt to change. It is a given in this world of fast food there is a market for the T20 and cricket will have to adapt itself to suit that market. You can't change the market for the product, you will need tore design the product to suit the market.

When Holding says, "Pollard in my opinion is not a cricketer," he does not mean "Pollard is not a cricketer," per se. Lets agree on that bit shall we ? The world needs opinions like these since they come 4m real legends and not arm chair critics like us.

thats bull crap view of holding ... some traditionalist just cant digest any change ... for cricket to become a global sport T-20 is the only way' date=' it[b'] will make cricket popular in other parts of the world & not remain refuge of few countries ... dont get me wrong Test cricket is the real deal ... but that does not mean that we cant bring innovations in this beautiful game to cater to interests in other parts of the world ...
Nope. Cricket should be within limited countries. Not every goddamn country. . We are already screaming for eliminating Bangladesh from Test status. Why do cricket need more countries? Scheduling will be a nightmare. Imagine 25 countries playing Tests. You will start hating cricket.

thats what im saying, whats wrong with the countries we have at the moment? There are also some emerging nations who might have test status in the futre. It seems the ICC just have some blind ambition to make cricket popular in America and China.

You don't have to take Test matches to every country. There probably is no market in those countries for test matches. That is why you take the T20.

So we want to breed yet more minnows? Fun fun fun.

When gayle had mentioned about him not caring if Test cricket died, that was too his opinion but he was e-hacked into pieces on ICF :giggle:
So its all down to money?
Why not ? Do you really expect cricketers to work their assess off 365 days in a year to stay fit an d practice hard to get better just so they can fill your appetite of you watching them play cricket on big screen TV on you recliner ?

Do you not seek pay hike ? Why can't they ?

Ultimately I am glad that I do not have derision for any form of cricket or for anything which is line with the law and spirit of the game. Michael Holding seems to have missed a few points. The over-selling of T20 may be distasteful - not necessarily the cricket as such.

yeah but its already boring to play so much against the same countries over and over again. we are gonna play srilanka in every odi series this entire year... its idiotic. btw some countries can develop fast... look at Afghanistan, they seem to improve at a rate faster than Bangladesh.

I somehow doubt this magical increased revenue gained from having some minnows playing 2020 cricket will really affect the players pay. Either way wouldnt the revenue go to the ICC? its not like there going to distribute the cash to the boards.

Umm, it's simple math. You play more you help your board fetch more and in return they pay you more. AFAIK, ICC does not get jack **** from any of the tournaments because they're a mutual agreement between the respective boards. Only time ICC gets to pocket cash is during the ICC events.
