Sachinism Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Gun battles are taking place in the Pakistani city of Lahore after two mosques belonging to the minority Ahmadi Islamic sect were attacked. Several people are reported to have been injured as police took on gunmen after they attacked the religious centres during Friday prayers. Gunfire and explosions at the scene could be heard in live footage on Pakistani television. Lahore has been the scene of a string of brazen militant attacks. So far there has been no information on casualties from Friday's attacks, and reports of hostages being taken by the gunmen remain unconfirmed. One of the mosques attacked on Friday is in the Model Town area of Pakistan's second city, while the other is in the heavily built-up Garhi Shahu area. At least 45 people were killed in March when two suicide bombers attacked a crowded residential area. Sectarian attacks have been carried out by various militant groups in Punjab, and across Pakistan in the past. In Pakistan the Ahmadis have been declared a non-Muslim minority and have been subject to a number of restrictions. Their religious leader is great guy and they have achieved almost 100% literacy in india, besides their goal has been to improve life in general. Hospitals, Colleges etc. There are plenty of them in Gujarat and they are very successful businessmen. Lot of them make living my selling Hindu Idols.

There are other differences between mainstream Muslims and Ahmadis, but the main point is that they consider Mirza as a prophet whereas the traditional Muslim interpretation of the Quran says that Muhammad was the last prophet. The phrase is ambiguous and the Ahmadis claim that the verse refers to Muhammad being the most important prophet rather than the last prophet. But yeah, Ahmadis are generally very forward looking and not too hung up in the rigidity of traditional Islam. Abdus Salam, the first Muslim and only Pakistani to win a Nobel prize was an Ahmadi and chose to live most of his life away from Pakistan at Cambridge once Pakistani government declared Ahmadis to be non Muslims by law in the mid 70s.

The Outsider Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Bolega to? 3rd party Ahmadis are considered a separate religion from Islam in Pakistan on par with Hindus, Sikhs, or Christians. For example, an Ahmadi cannot become the President or Prime Minister in the country since those seats of power are reserved only for Muslims. They are not allowed to go to Haj from Pakistan because Haj is only for Muslims. Those kind of things. It's a bit worse for them because unlike Hindus and Christians they want to be recognized as legitimate Muslims, which results in a lot of sectarian violence against them.

I actually always thought they are one and same. Both seem to have lot of similarity. Isnt Azim Premji Ahmediya??

Texy Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 when you teach a buncha young children from childhood during koran sessions in friday islamic school that ahmadis, hindus, jews, christians are all non muslims and evil and should be dealt with force....One day Pakistan should be 100% muslim state inshallah some of them are bound to go crazy when they grow up...THEY are responsible for this themselves and yet the blame game has already started....... it must b Indians or CIA or Mossad doing this.... somehow brainwashing innocent muslims and telling them to blow each other up

Think of those who are higher from this non-sense but still trapped in it. You and me as humans have to have sympathy towards them. I hope at least you and me should think like that because we live in a lot better and a richer country. Well we can always have different opinions.
