Edit: I just saw their coverage and it seems to be more balanced than I thought. They at least quoted his statement supporting terrorism.

On Monday, Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna accused Naik of vilifying Ganpati. NaikÃÂn Islamic preacherÃÉas tendered an apology. "I am sorry if I have hurt the sentiments or feelings of any person," he said in a statement. Naik said one of his staff members put up two quotes on his account which were not approved by him.

He rarely, if at all talks about Islamic canon or about theological aspects of Islam/ the Holy Quran. Majority of the time, he is blabbering random incoherent rubbish about # of rapes in USA, why Hinduism/Buddhism/Christianity even Sufism are all flawed, why Bohris will rot in hell, etc . He calls himself an expert on comparative religion, but none of the stuff that he spouts will stand close scrutiny by a real scholar of Islam. All he does is brings in quotes from the Holy Quran and other holy books, completely devoid of any context to prove some 'point'. Its all a sham. If you ask me, the guy is not even a scholar on Islam, let alone on other religions.* In fact, if I were a preacher of the Islamic faith, I would try to talk about my religion and not try to trash talk every other belief system out there. His actions and words belie his claim of being someone who absolutely believes in the 'supremacy and completeness of Islam as a faith'. A person comfortable with his religious identity wouldn't find the need to put down other faiths while making a point. And if being retarded, weren't enough, Zakir Naik is also extremely provocative. He has said things which have offended various communities, including many Muslims. His comments on Lord Ganesha are outright disgusting. So were his comments on the Bohri mutlaaq- Dr Syedna. A man whose contribution to the Indian society and the world as a whole is more than 100000000000x what Zakir Naik can ever achieve. Zakir Naik also has made some border line racist comments against Americans and some similarly disgusting comments on Shias. It would be easier to take him seriously, if he stopped grading people on (what he perceives to be) their 'Muslimness'. This guy should be behind bars. Do chaar saal hawalat me guzarega to iske hosh thikane aa jayenge.
