ina_jawaan Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 A great bowler - and he can't be bothered with the doosra unlike a certain hod carrier, spear thrower and lout. 'nuff said!
thongale Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Swann is the best test spinner this year. But in ODIs, still Vettori is up in the front. Expect Randiv to gallop pass both within 2 years time.
thongale Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 i cant remember any delivery like that from recent memory.help me out how would that make Bhajji better,he'd never have to play against these guysMurali bowled three such deliveries that I an give top of my head. In 1998 tour of SA he pitched one two and half feet outside Kirsten's leg stump and the ball spun past his back and hit the off. Then he bowled one to Mark Butcher, a flat, quick off break, pitching way out side leg and spinning across Butcher and taking the off. In 2001 he sent one round the wicket to Sadagopan Ramesh, which pitches about one and half feet wide of leg and spun across to take the off.
thongale Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Swann's test will come against India. Umar AKmal smashed him around in the 3rd test. That shows he's very smashable. If Sehwag manages to stay, he's take Swann to the cleaners.

So yeh KP smashed Glenn Mcgrath around all the time, that shows hes very smashable. Great logic.
thongale Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 How does that show hes very smashable? whatever that means. So yeh KP smashed Glenn Mcgrath around all the time' date=' that shows hes very smash-able. Great logic.[/quote']Very smashable means he's not non-smashable as his opponents have demonstrated up to now. for a great player of spin. KP NEVER smashed McGrath around. McGrath was almost NON SMASHABLE. If you want to see the smashing of McGrath, then Abdul Razzaq, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Lance Klusener and Jayasuriya did it once or twice. KPs smashing not even close to it. Equalling Swann to McGrath is a farce of a logic because there's a light year between them in class. McGrath vs Warne would have been a better comparison. If a 20-yr old fleet footed Pakistani can smash Swann around, equally fleet footed, but better equipped Indian batsmen like Sehwag, Raina and Dhoni are going to run amock against Swann. Expect Tendulkar, Gambhir etc to play him defensively and Sehwag and Raina to have a go at him.
Sachinism Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Interesting anecdote about Swann When he was about 21, he was taken on tour with England to SA. Swann was a cocky lil kid and pi$$ed off one of the England players who took him aside and whooped his *****. He returned home with 2 black eyes
thongale Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 ^^ confirms that Swann is "smashable":--D

You are using Akmal's one fluke innings against Swann as example, so why dont you take Afridi's or Razzaq's one inning against McGrath to agree that he is also smashable?

The class Indian players like Sachin, Laxman, etc have killed Warne. Does that also mean that Warne is also ordinary?

I've seen Tamim make swann look ordinary on quite a few occassions. Just saying.

ZodiaC Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 What does that prove? He is pretty young in the game and has got better lately He got smashed by Tamim in the last test series too, looked all over the place once he started getting smashed. I agree he's class, and I like him watch bowl, but I thought I'd mention that coz you said Ukmal's was one fluke innings against swann. That's all.
raar78 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Every player moves around in the ICC rankings..They are no big deal. Hope to see Bhajji owning the Saffers at one of his fav hunting ground.
thongale Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 You are using Akmal's one fluke innings against Swann as example, so why dont you take Afridi's or Razzaq's one inning against McGrath to agree that he is also smashable? Don't be stupid. Akmal is not the best player of spin in the world, and Swann is yet to bowl to best players of spin. McGrath have already PROVED it. If Swann bwols well and stays non-smashed, I'd certainly change my opinion. Even Indian players like Mongia, etc have smashed Warne easily in India. The class Indian players like Sachin, Laxman, etc have killed Warne. Does that also mean that Warne is also ordinary?Another wrong analogy. Mongia may have been a ordinary batsman, but he was a class above against spin than what Warne have been bowling to in England or in New Zealand. I have never said Swann is ordinary. I said he's smashable, which means he's not the godly off spinner that sides have made him to look like. Once again, Swann has not come across his ultimate challenge. And i'd expect him to get Warne-esque smashing from the Indians.
Laaloo Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Every player moves around in the ICC rankings..They are no big deal. Hope to see Bhajji owning the Saffers at one of his fav hunting ground. O RLY? And where's that?
ina_jawaan Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Swann has flight, loop, drift, dip, turn, guile, subtle changes of pace AND he doesn't need helpful pitches to take wickets AND he doesn't try to throw (sorry bowl) the doosra AND he is not a yob - my idea of offspinning nirvana!
DeXteR Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 He's doing well now...let's see how does it in India , even Ashes will be a test for him.
Rahul48 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 He's the best ATM.Interesting to see how he performs v IND & AUS.
