Sid Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 SL 500-600 runs and our batting again collapsing under pressure SL going in with four wicket taking bowlers and we again going in with same ordinary bowling(althgough very less options) I hope I will be proven wrong at the end of test match but I will be pleasently surprised if it happens
Jersey #10 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I am thinking a lot more than 600 in just two days on this road like pitch. India will lose it under 4 days as it seems
Manny_Pacquiao Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 i am thinking high scoring draw. but let's see what happens
Sid Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 wow....that was fast. Ya becoz I have full confidence in our bowling attack that they will contunue to leak runs and our batsmen APART FROM GODDY AND VIRu will crumble under the pressure of runs more than the bowlers

We can only sit back and hope that our batter out do whatever Lankans do. And that we win the toss next match. I still feel we will win the series.
Mr. Wicket Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 i am thinking high scoring draw. but let's see what happens go 1-0 up, then prepare roads to protect the lead (particularly as their two best wicket takers are goneski)?
thevortex Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Well - this team was not given the chance to succeed. Yes it was sad about losing the toss. But then this bowling lineup is not going to even contain - leave alone pick wickets. I would not further hobble this attack by just taking 4 bowlers and stocking up on batsmen!

Manny_Pacquiao Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 go 1-0 up' date=' then prepare roads to protect the lead (particularly as their two best wicket takers are goneski)?[/quote'] i havent given up hope on this test yet, but yes, thats what they are gonna do if it stays 1-0.
EnterTheVoid Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 i havent given up hope on this test yet' date=' but yes, thats what they are gonna do if it stays 1-0.[/quote'] Me too, our bowling attack may be depleted but theirs isn't that much better. No Murali, no Malinga, Mendis making a comeback so not sure how effective he will be. Ishant is trying hard, Mithun is creating chances, doesn't help the pitch is as flat as a road. I will remain optimistic of a comeback.
DomainK Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 go 1-0 up' date=' then prepare roads to protect the lead (particularly as their two best wicket takers are goneski)?[/quote'] Precisely. Two long innings, enough time wasted and it's a draw. Hope Viru plays one of his special ones and leaves us with a good enough lead and long enough time to do the rest. Lets hope the pitch will have something on day 5.
achilles Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 The Lankans are batting as if its a One-Day match. We are so screwed if they continue batting like this and "Mi-thooooooon" and Co. don't pick up the wickets soon. Close to 100 less than 1.5hrs is a very brisk start from their PoV. Well - this team was not given the chance to succeed. Yes it was sad about losing the toss. But then this bowling lineup is not going to even contain - leave alone pick wickets. I would not further hobble this attack by just taking 4 bowlers and stocking up on batsmen! This bowling line-up has been selected purely on merit (or so its told).
Manny_Pacquiao Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 actually, shouldnt they try to win the 3rd test since 2-0 win will take them to number 1??
achilles Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 actually' date=' shouldnt they try to win the 3rd test since 2-0 win will take them to number 1??[/quote'] Yes. But a pitch poor from the home team, whose captain has been more than verbal about how great his team is and how nonsense the rankings are. I'm really surprised that the team which "deserves to be No.1" resolves to preparing a race-track like this to ensure they maintain the lead.
cowboysfan Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 i am willing to bet that this will be a draw.let me know but i am going to bed right now.
Mr. Wicket Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 actually' date=' shouldnt they try to win the 3rd test since 2-0 win will take them to number 1??[/quote'] In theory, yes - in reality, they know that without Murali (and possibly Malinga), their bowling attack is perhaps weaker than ours and if the toss doesn't go their way... they get reamed.
saneindian Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 If we dont drop any catches, we will have a more than fair chance of winning this test. VVS grabbing a sharp chance was a good start. Spinners will create chances, we just need to ensure all of those are taken unlike the 1st test where there were far too many let offs.
