It's Dhoni, the coach, seniors - the team management who gets to decide that depending on lots of factors. This is not the first time and not the last time everybody in the 16 member squad getting to play in a series either. It has become a fashion to blame the selectos for each anad every trivial issue these days.

I don't see anyone coming out and openly backing them for the simple reason that - "Their decisions are wrong, blatant and obvious". If you start dropping senior players after one-two bad series on F1 tracks, I doubt the bench-strength for the World Cup, coz players out of favour can't even make it for the A & B team tours. This kind of impulsive and dubious selection is exactly what is going to spell doom for us in the coming 5 yrs. If this post is aimed at why the seniors have been rested, well its a good decision. Gambhir, Bhajji have been struggling with fitness issues off late and its good to rest them (especially for a not very important tournament) ahead of a busy season where we will be playing nonsop for 6 months starting with Australia series till 2011 WC ( 2 tests and 3 ODIs vs Aus, 3 tests and 5 ODIs vs NZ, 3 tests and 5 ODIs vs SA, surely some practice series against some team prior to the WC and then finally the WC). Thats 8 tests and 15-16 ODIs in 4 months (October 2010 to Jan 2011.Better to take care of your seniors especially those who are part of all three formats.

So are you mad about the selectors because you think Amit was not a top selection in the first place? I thought you were mad about Amit not getting to play a single game in the series and hence was only a tourist to SL.

They chose him the squad as they felt he us good enough and sent him to SL. It's upto the team management to choose whom to play and whom not to play in a test. You seem to be confused about the squad selection which the selectors do and the team selection for every match that the team management does. This proves that some of you will blame the selectors no matter what! Not very different thought process from our Padosis who blame their chairman for all theirs problems and blame him to be reason why they are not number one in T2o, tests, ODI, which they think they truely deserve considering their talunt.

Zonal selection politics..Most of the 'fringe' players are selected to satisfy the Zonal aspirations..So the selectors have to select them in various formats to keep the 'rotation' going..Then it's upto the captain's liking and licking the captain..

So he'll not completely drop him but it's common knowledge that Mishra is pretty down the order in Dhoni's pecking list..
