And why is Ishant in the ODI squad? I thought the selectors concluded that he is not a ltd overs cricketer. I do think Vinay Kumar should have been given another go instead. Oh well.

Sooda Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Using their excellent planning and judgement the selectors picked both Tiwary and Ashwin for the emerging players tourno and a few days later picked them for the Senior side.Their spots in the emerging players squad taken up by Pandey (who should have been there in the first place) and the spinner Ashwin replaced with paceman Dinda. Which means the emerging players squad has one spinner in Chawla. Abdullah should have been given another go here. :cantstop: If anything Dinda and Yadav would have been better options for the senior ODI side instead of Mithun and Ishant.

Even Dinda or Vinay Kumar couldn't have been been worse here. So why not rest him from this JAMODI tournament and let him prepare for the Irani trophy or coming tests?
Sid Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Ishant picked again,he cant bowl in test matches without 6-7 runs per over and gets picked for odi again ,irfan should have been given the chance if he was fit,and why did thet picked up dinda and vinay kumar in that zim tour no one knows,they are completely off the radar now and now mithun gets picked up for odis,this selection commitee has completely fecked up Indian cricket over the last two years with a long list of selection blunders
asterix Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I can easily visualise Ishant and Mithun running in and hitting the deck (that's what they know) and hoping for the ball to do something. The Ball will nicely sit up and the batsman will keep on thrashing them out of the ground.. The selection committee is out of sorts or the decisions are heavily influenced by external sources..

I don't see anyone coming out and openly backing them for the simple reason that - "Their decisions are wrong, blatant and obvious". If you start dropping senior players after one-two bad series on F1 tracks, I doubt the bench-strength for the World Cup, coz players out of favour can't even make it for the A & B team tours. This kind of impulsive and dubious selection is exactly what is going to spell doom for us in the coming 5 yrs.
