Desi Cartman Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Dhoni will need Mishra in the upcoming tours in India. So he'll not completely drop him but it's common knowledge that Mishra is pretty down the order in Dhoni's pecking list.. Thats what Im trying to understand, whats the source of this common knowledge? And do you agree that mishra is not in the squad to fill in the zonal quota ? and do u also agree that MSD can easily get selectors to ignore mishra if he REALLY hated him ?
Lord Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 newswallahs r saying Gambhir asked for rest:hmmm: Karthik should walk in now.he must open with Veeru my playing XI would be Sehwag Karthik Kohli Yuvraj Raina Dhoni Jadeja:wall: Ashwin PK Mithun Nehra
Desi Cartman Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Bhajji seems half fit but is SRT resting so he can play champions league ? :hmmmm:

So he'll not completely drop him but it's common knowledge that Mishra is pretty down the order in Dhoni's pecking list.. Much of it is due to Mishra himself. Dhoni picked him for the last series we played vs SA. Since then Mishra has become completely unfit, got tonked in that tri series vs Zim and SL A and then got thrashed completely in the practice match. Wrose still, he bowled some 20-25 no balls. So left the captain with no choice but to pick the other spinner in the sqaud. But now that both the spinners chosen ahead of him have proved to be equally ineffective, he may get picked in the 3rd test (especially if we have another flat road).

And do you agree that mishra is not in the squad to fill in the zonal quota ? and do u also agree that MSD can easily get selectors to ignore mishra if he REALLY hated him ? There are different Zonal quotas for different tours. So for away tour you'll find different set of new players in the team. And then in the home series, you'll find a different set. Dhoni cannot easily get Mishra dropped from the touring XI. If Dhoni has that much of interest and clout to get his own team, he would've got Arpy playing in SL and Jadeja playing Test matches.. But Dhoni can certainly decide the playing XI. And he has kept Mishra out of the playing XI in other series too. This is not the first time he has done that..

Dhoni might just be forced to play Mishra after giving 2 matches to Ojha..But Dhoni will ensure that Mishra doesn't gets backed up by intelligent field placings..There's many ways Dhoni can screw up Mishra..And he has done it earlier too. He doesn't gives proper field when Mishra bowls..

asterix Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 :giggle:I was thinking of replying to your previous post but then I read this one and I give up. You sir are a legend ... What can I say. If you have followed Dhoni's captaincy and field placings (and closely follow the field placings he gives to his business partner Bhajji and compare with other lesser spin bowlers), you'll understand (if you wish to see something against the beloved kaptaan)..
asterix Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Care to elaborate what exactly is that? Like setting a field for the long hops that Mishra bowls every over? C'mon.. As if Bhajji doesn't bowls leg side darts? Are you saying Mishra is not worth his place in the team? What else he has to do? Invest money with Dhoni in some business or gift a Hummer to him?

asterix Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Answer the main question. Elaborate the "intelligent field placings" for Mishra please. How can i explain if you have not seen how Dhoni backs his legspinner with proper close in fielders? Just watch next time when Mishra plays and what close in fielders Dhoni sets for him..

IIRC, a minimum of 3 felders were around the batsman everytime the spinners bowled.
asterix Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Are you sure you watched the test matches vs SA? IIRC' date=' a minimum of 3 felders were around the batsman everytime the spinners bowled.[/quote'] I'm pretty sure, SI. I even remember fans discussing this strange field placings by Dhoni for Mishra.
saneindian Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I'm pretty sure' date=' SI. I even remember fans discussing this strange field placings by Dhoni for Mishra.[/quote'] Oh the same fans who were abusing Dhoni for his adamant team selection, Ishant for his rubbish bowling, a few players going for a shopping spree day before the test, and best still, predicting an India loss after 1 hour of the test? And here is this that I found on that match thread Post number 401, page number 11 http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=207085&page=11 Asterix:Bhajji bowled well..The slow in the air Mishraji sucks..Ojha is far better spinner than him..hope this is the last test of Mishraji.. :hysterical::hysterical:
Sid Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I'm pretty sure' date=' SI. I even remember fans discussing this strange field placings by Dhoni for Mishra.[/quote'] Well reading your posts asterix, how do you come up with this amount of non sense about dhoni and bhajji in one thread after another,
