++ It's high time everyone stopped talking about the pitch and the lights and the timing of the game and the ground. A good team should be able to compete in all circumstances. It's not like teams haven't won games playing second on Dambula.

Did you hear or read any Indian player complain about the pitches on which the matches are being played? The issue was with the practice wickets and the captain was well within his rights to make his displeasure known. Imagine India providing similar practice wickets to a visiting team. Trust me it will continue to make headlines for days and ICC will issue directives to BCCI to ensure proper quality practice pitches.

Forget about practice pitches.. India offered two under-prepared pitches for the real game in two series for the Lankans. On both occasions, they had to cancel the match. But Sir Polonnovita is not ur usual curator. I read on cricinfo about him calling both captains buggers after the bad comments about his SSC pitch.. really funny guy. :hysterical:

As someone know plays for a proper cricket team, we see loads of poorly kept pitches on our travels and you can see just what a difference it makes, with spinners getting stupid amounts of spin and pace bowlers getting bounce when they hit the cracks, these kinds of pitch then put victory down to luck and not good bowling and batting. It seems like the Lankans are trying to hinder out batting as this is out strength, but i dont think it will work as no UV will make us stronger and if we win the toss it should be game over. I dont see why the games dont start earlier so floodlights isnt a problem? Personally i think the bcci have been too friendly towards sri lanka for far too long, i remember reading somewhere that alot of their income comes from india as they play us alot. I think we need to let them play with teams on their level i.e. Bangladesh/Kenya.

Yuvraj out for a week due to fever. DK out with a finger injury, Ishant has an ankle problem, Mithun is yet to recover from the heat stroke, Nehra has a back problem and has not attended the practice sessions. Looks like the team for tomorrow will be Sehwag Kohli Rohit Raina Tiwary Dhoni Jadeja Ashwin Ojha PK Munaf These are the 11 fit members of the team as of now. Tiwary in all probability will have his international debut.

It doesnt look like Ashwin will play and instead Ishant will come in, but i agree id give Ashwin a go over Ishant as we know what IShant can do. They are saying DK will be back but i think it'll be a travesty to pick a man who averages 27 over an up and coming star like Kohli or even Tiwary who i think will make way for DK. Persisting with ppl like Jadega when we have so many other exciting options is why I dont like DHoni as a captain, i just dont think he has the intelligence of Dravid/Ganguly when it comes to picking the right team, as a player he is invaluable and will be for many years. This is why i said in a recent thread i wouldnt have him as captain but at the moment there are no alternatives, we just dont have the experience anymore outside tests.

I am talking about the general issue which everyone brings up right after India loses a game. There should be no discussion about the pitch at all and the curators are not supposed to have any disclosure with the media in the first place. We should be talking about our tactics on different pitches and different situations. Not only India but all top 8 teams should just stop talking bullshit and stop blaming external characteristics of the game. Different pitch is a different challenge and it's part of Cricket. You just can not make every pitch the same and order soil from OZ or Eng. you can't change the weather or the atmosphere in every country to suit your playing conditions. Adaption is part of the game and therefore, lets just stop blaming the curators and the pitches including the grounds and the bias of D/N matches. I am not even talking about nor interested in who attacked who and who criticized who. I am not even talking about winning and losing. Pitches in India aren't made of gold either. Don't you forget the recent pitch in Punjab where SL had to abandon the game due to uneven and surprise bounce and bumps in the pitch.

1) MSD or our team never moaned about pitch condition. In this case, MSD got mad because of the uneven bounce on a practice pitch...which he is entitled to because as a captain the last thing i'd want to see is my players getting injured during the practice session (that too when majority of our first choice players are rested and/or injured). 2) Why do test matches' day end prematurely when the natural light is not visible enough ? Floodlights are meant to improve your sight and not demean it. 3) Timing of the game ? Have you been reading India's itinerary ? This is no bloody gully cricket that you're expected to play every other day. Cricketers too are human beings and need some rest to recharge their fuel and spend quality time away from the field. 4) Ground ? When did we ever complain about that ? :dontknow:

Well both teams played on the same pitch hence the same uneven and "badly" bouncy pitch right? In that case, I would expect two well trained and rated teams to perform and put up a good competition. Why aren't the other team players complaining? Are the people examining the game very closely blind enough to not notice the "huge" issue of uneven bounce? Why is that only Dhoni is complaining? and that too right after a loss? There is almost always some sort an excuse after every loss. I will never be able to compare ODIs and Tests playing conditions on one page! It's just impossible while talking sense. Well, then the players should opt to play lesser game or request BCCI to put up with a lighter schedule. You can't go around calling everything unfair and still want to make 10x more money than the other teams. by "ground", I meant the location "dambula". There was this saying after India's loss that "It's impossible or w/e to chase under lights while batting second at dambula". I don't agree with this sentence as it's lame.

In such a case, it was sensible to call it off. The game was called off after Dhoni and the umpires agreed to it. It was an unanimous decision following Sangakkara's request.
