I doubt he would have survived today and takes us to victory if he had batted instead of Raina.
i think he'd been alright

Yuvi is a good batsmen... He may score runs if he play...who knows about it. I think we should stop comparing Yuvi and Raina. In past no one has compared Gambhir and Vijay. So Team management can use Yuvi and Raina based on their form and fitness. Both are assets for team India.

But Raina scored 100+ in the last match to help us to a draw and today he played a crucial inngins under pessure, too many times in tests we'v seen UV crumble when this is needed. Not to say UV hasnt done a magnificant job in ODI and T20, but in tests Raina is the better player and the future.

Yuvraj would've done a fantastic job today. He scored a 50 in Galle' date=' when people were struggling.[/quote'] YUVI got a 50 but how did he got out, caught in slips off murali and i bet same would have happened when he would have faced randiv,Yuvi doesnt play quality spin well this is his eternal problem, although both are similar when facing up to seamers but yuvraj is no where close to raina when facing spin,Yuvi doesnt look confident playing spin

Yuvi must be itching to get a chance to bat in the upcoming ODIs. We could be in for some brutal innings from Yuvi in the upcoming odis.
hope so:pray:

frakly speaking , yuvraj is not a test material.his defensive technique is awful.he is good slogger of ball but nothing more than that.Raina is far more accomplished player than yuvraj.his defense is solid against pace and spin and i am very impressed by his temperament.

Was just having a discussion with my younger brother about Yuvi and his decline in cricket in all forms, We were talking about the innings he played in Bangalore against Pakistan along with SCG, it was one of the most fluent test innings I have ever seen one play. He could somehow get in shape and regain the touch, I guess he would be a strong contender for a position in middle order of our Test Team, he doesnt have age on his side, he would have to work his ass off, to get back his place.

Y. Singh has had enough chances to cement his place. Raina got given a chance and he grabbed it with both hands superbly, he deserves a decent run in the team to be able to display his quality. Raina is younger, has more hunger and appears mentally stronger. His time has come. We can't keep living in the past no more.

As was mentioned above, he did indeed take us to victory in our last major successful chase, against England at Chennai in 2008, coming in with about 160 needed. But that is besides the point. Whatever your opinion of his Test credentials (and mine isn't that high), the dude doesn't select himself. If you have an issue with his selection, have a go at the selectors and team management, not Yuvi.

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of Yuvraj (I think Raina deserves his test spot more than him) but this thread is quite dumb. What exactly is the point of mocking a player who didnt get a chance to play? (and when he did get a chance to play in a similar situation in Chennai, did brilliantly)
