lol another pathetic example of how underrated and unappreciated vvs laxman has been lol putting amarnath, azhar vengsarkar, gundappa etc. before laxman is a joke, how many test matchwinning innings have these guys played compared to VVS lol, thatd be a good statistic VVS is in a totally different class and as great a batsman as sachin and drvavid

3. Dravid 4. Tendulkar 5. Amarnath Kapil at 6? He hardly batted at that position during his career. Mankad at 6, Kapil at 7, and the wicketkeeper at 8 should be the logical way to go. If not Mankad, then a specialist batsman at 6. 9,10, and 11 can be the bowlers.
Yes you are right, agree Mankad at 6. Mankad can open too. But Kapil has potential to bat at 6.

Amar Singh along with Mohd. Nissar formed what was the first (and perhaps the last ) pace bowling pair from India. here's his profile on Cricinfo. http://www.cricinfo.com/india/content/player/26228.html Look at his foirst class bowling average!! :hatsoff::hatsoff: "There is no better bowler in the world today than Amar Singh,'' said Len Hutton in an informal chat with pressmen at Madras in 1970. It was 34 years since the legendary England opening batsman had faced the Indian medium pace bowler while playing for Yorkshire. And it is the perfect tribute to Amar Singh that Hutton still remembered the hard time that the Indian, then a member of the 1936 Indian team, gave him. Another England great Wally Hammond described Amar Singh's bowling as "he came off the pitch like the crack of doom". Indeed, Amar Singh, along with Md Nissar was the first great Indian bowler for his accuracy, stamina and ability to make the ball move alarmingly off the air or cut it devastatingly off the pitch. Mohammed Nissar too had similar figures to Amar Singh, but I have not considered him as he chose to relocate to Pakistan after partition.
This man deserves a :hail: :isalute:

Below is my AT11, good for most conditions: - Gavaskar - Sehwag - Dravid - Tendulkar - Hazare / CK Naydu / Amarnath / May be Merchant - Mankad (spin bowling all-rounder) - Kapil (pace bowling all-rounder) - Kirmani / Dhoni - Amar Singh (pace bowling all-rounder) - Md Nissar - One of the great spinners
